NCB transfer?

No, as the name suggests, it's a discount.savings_my_hobby wrote: »The whole point of having NCD is to lower your premium ain't it?
A discount on whatever premium the insurer offers, which obviously can change following a claim, or even a no claim incident.0 -
Just to clarify what others have said, protection is only against the discount itself not the premium.
If you have a fault/non recoverable claim, you are automatically rated higher so your premium will go up no matter what. Having protected NCD just means that you still have the discount off of whatever that premium may be, instead of it going up and then going up AGAIN because your NCD has reduced.
In respect of transferring it, a lot of insurers would probably accommodate this. I would suggest trying to stay with the same insurer until the claim is settled but as long as you tell insurers your NCD is coming from a van policy, they might decline it but a lot of insurers will allow it or at least give you some kind of benefit.0
