Can someone recommend any good family board games that adults and kids can play together ? I we have to play trivial pursuit again me and BIL will come to blows!! Only joking but he does take everything so seriously and he is very competitive . Best place to buy them too would be great
friends and family alike have always enjoyed Articulate (younger kids might need some help), Pictionary and Rapidough was always funny too0 -
Wow I've loved reading this thread and enjoy everything about christmas. In my family this year we have decided to be sensible about costs and have limited gifts to £75 each.

Oooooh another Xmas thread
I absolutely love them.
I'm the first one to admit I'm not one of these crafty types. I'm quite good at making up hampers but I need the contents first- my hands are too painful from my fibro to do any sort of home made anything. I have however made some beautiful hampers for my family- I bought some baskets from IKEA when OH dragged me there to buy some rugsand some cellophane wrapping from EBay for a couple of pounds and a roll of gorgeous thick golden ribbon for 75p from Clintons Cards. The gifts I've bought have been a mixture of sale items and full price stuff but I have utilised my NUS card
and I got a large amount of gifts for Dad at WH Smith in George Eliot Hospital when I went to have my hearing aids fitted
My bargains- opal and diamond necklace for Mum. Was £75, paid £37.50. (H Samuel) Nightie for mum- £3 was £6, Matalan. Body shop rose hand cream for mum- £5.50 was £11. Body shop large shower gel for mum- £8 was £16. Pandora charm for mum- £17 was £35.
Reebok Classic trainers for OH- £7.50!! Were £65! (TJ Hughes) Next jeans- £17 were £35. Next t-shirt- £4 was £8. Next polo shirt- £7 was £14. John Rocha leather belt- £10 was £30. Next underpants- £9 was £18. George Foreman family grill- £14 was £35. Leicester Tigers polo shirt, £18 was £35 (all for OH)
Body shop bath fizzers for sister- £6 was £12, small bottle of body shop shower gel for sister- £4 was £8.
Jack Wills body wash x 2 different types for 2 x nephews and step niece, £5.40 each with NUS card.
Sugar free sweets for Dad- bought on offer at hospital shop
Everything else- my Dad's personalised whisky, my sister's PJ's, BIL's and OH's gift cards, Dad's Old Spice set, Dad's bottle opener, mug, tea and biscuits for my friend who lives along the road, and the Exeter Chiefs shirt I bought for my mate were all full price. Wrap was bought on EBay and cards from Funky Pigeon. I'm supremely proud of all the bargains I got though!*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -
Mrs_Ryan - you got some bargains there! Excellent.

Mrs_Ryan, my goodness you're making me jealous of all your organisation skills and bargains. Very O/S MSE of you, well done.
Need to get my finger out and get some other bits and bobs - when the price is right.0 -
After reading about it on the MSE newsletter, when I was in Tesco I bought 2 x chocolate tins/boxes for £7, so £3.50 each. I can remember actually buying the same box for £5 last year, so some pennies saved.
My GF was mentioning a site called secretsales. I've heard people mention it before but never had a proper look myself, I'll need to keep my eyes peeled.0 -
I got the tins too. One of each of the four kinds. Got to be good and not raid them now. But, yeah, for £3.50 a tin it's a bargain. Price wars will make them climb and drop but they are usually £5 ish. So I don't mind paying 2 for £7 at all.
Never heard of that site, but if it's a bargain spotting one, hotukdeals is usually quite good too. I've used that quite a lot. Good for the after Christmas sales too. Tells you where and when things go on.
I have to calm down a little. Been going a bit buying mad this month for Christmas. But I'm just giddy. Things are starting to appear in shops, so I can't help it.Book a week challenge: 11/52. Competitions won in 2021: 120 -
I also have 2 of those sweetie tins tucked away in my wardrobe ( out of sight out of mind!)
Went in Sainsbobs yesterday and picked up a few bits in the end of season sale to pop in stockings. They have their "winter" mugs out on display so the rest won't be far behind.
The shift in the weather suddenly makes it seem OK to be discussing Christmas plans although I have been accused of being one of Santa's Elves this week!0 -
I confess. Replacement tin being bought today. It was very needed yesterday. On top of a poorly and very (non stop) crying one month old, I had a horrid day yesterday. The cats used the upstairs littler tray but when burying the poo accidentally kicked it out of the box. The little robot Hoover, roomba, went in to that room while doing his rounds. Ran over the poo, got it stuck in his wheels and brushes and dragged and spread it everywhere.
Went upstairs and saw it all. Could have cried.
Cracked open a tub of chocs last night. And very nearly the wine too.Book a week challenge: 11/52. Competitions won in 2021: 120 -

Wow. Sounds like a well deserved box of chocolates. You've stronger will power than I to avoid the wine though :beer:0
