Eat Well For Less Series 3

Those blind tasting tests are fascinating aren't they.
I have recently downgraded both baked beans and weetabix, the weetabix just last week in fact. I don't eat either but my ds2 does. Tonight he watched the programme and we had a good laugh about the weetabix segment.
He says he can't tell didn't the difference. I bought Aldis and he's more than happy so we will stick with them.0 -

If I find some good bargains I will buy extra and freeze some.
Tonight I have bought a groupon voucher for muscle foods. It looks like a very good deal. I'll see how it goes.
For me it's the only way that makes sense tbh
Say you've written a meal plan that says pork chops, yet the supermarkets are knocking out turkey mince at a third of the price, why stick to chops when the turkey mince is better for you and more versatile ?
Ok so I've spent a few years cooking for a living but I'm not a trained cook. I get the recipe books out, I google , I mess up, I mix it up, we don't starve.
somone posted here the other week about a cheese and lentil bake. That's going to be this weeks experiment. Hopefully we will like it, maybe it will just make pack ups, but I won't know till I've tried it and seeing as it's lentils ( store cupboard must have) it's not going to break the bank0 -
Can I ask how everyone meal plans? I.e notepad\diary\calendar\scrap of paper etc0

We had the subtitles on, and when she was still laughing about the tea bags, it said "Hysterical cackling continues", which made me smile.0

I also drink Yorkshire Tea and usually buy only when on offer but I have also tried Sainsburys Basic, PG and Tesco own brand. All are drinkable. I find it more how I make it. Sometimes I make a lovely cuppa, sometimes it goes down the sink!0

PS is it just me ? Surely that black and yellow tape that they stick everywhere damages the cupboards?0

Flat Eric......is it the water in your area. We had this a few times and I couldnt understand what I had done wrong. I now use a water filter.0

The veggie stew looks lovely, I'm trying that.:)
Just caught the first few minutes of last night's programme and took an immediate dislike to the woman but after reading this ^^^ I'll reserve judgement.0 -

She needs a kick up her bum.
She's unbelievable! Waiting for her bill.
£235 - and she'll still do her top ups she said.
Average bill should be £95, so she spends 3x the average.
All in, £320/week. £16,500/year.
I didn't like the woman this week at all. Even my OH said "What a stupid lazy woman" and he never comments on this type of programme usually.lessonlearned wrote: »Given her childhood I'm not surprised.
I really warmed to this family, the girl was delightful and the couple were nice. I loved it when they got an attack of the giggles over the teabags. They had me giggling too.
I got the impression they were real converts at the end and will probably end up being really savvy in the future.
One of the best programmes so far.
I can understand why she wants to make sure her cupboards are stocked because of her childhood but not why she buys grated cheese, packaged veg etc and then throws most of it away. Those parsnips she threw looked fine to me.
The bit about the teabags just annoyed me. Her silly comment "it doesn't taste tea like" just summed her up. Her cackling like a witch made me want to throw something at the tv.
The dad and daughter were nice enough but then it is nearly always the women in this programme that come across as so stupid and often lazyThe world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -

I disliked her after the first 5 minutes and disliked her even more by the endThe world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0
