Home Bargains Jarrow

Hi

Really sorry if i should have put this someplace else in this section but just wanted to say a really big thanks to all who posted such helpful advice to fight these truly awful "fines" and "penalties".

My 83 old mum wanted to shop at Home Bargains and she was weak from a chest infection and recent battles with lung cancer and a hip replacement and along with her cataracts problem she took a long time shopping and we were 19 minutes over our parking time hence the £85 fine parkingeye gave us.

Anyway thanks to this forum i immediately emailed them using the joe morris address and within in 2 hours got a reply from Hayley in customer services stating they could do nothing and to appeal to parkingeye.

6 minutes later received a brief email from John Prothero stating he had emailed parkingeye to cancel the charge and then kindly enquired after mums health as i told him that mum was now in hospital with broken hip and fractured ankle due to the chest infection causing her to lose balance and falling.

Impressive response from John Prothero and really grateful if this indeed gets cancelled.

Thanks again to you all and especially coupon-mad who seems a true hero in all of this madness

    Hi
I only have the email from John Prothero so do you mean i should ask him for his cancellation promise in writing ?

Also should i still appeal this to parkingeye within the 14 day period in case it doesnt get cancelled as promised ?

If i still should appeal i will use the template recommended but should i mention in that appeal to parkingeye that John Prothero has asked them to cancel the fine ?

    Thanks again :T

    Yes continue the appeals procedure.

Until you get confirmation from PE you must continue with the appeals process set out in the newbies faq,

Yes, exactly that. I have done that before, in order to flush out a cancellation email from PE.

  • Hi Thanks for telling me to continue appeals process.

I did exactly what you told me and just 2 minutes ago i received an email from Parkingeye.

    Dear Sir / Madam,

We refer to the Parking Charge incurred on 27 June 2016 at 11:11:22, at Home Bargains South Tyneside car park.

We can confirm that this Charge has been cancelled and there is no outstanding payment due on this account.

    Kind Regards,

    ParkingEye Team
