Windows cannot access.............

Please can somebody help me. I'm trying to set up file sharing over my wireless network, and though I can see the computer, and the shared folder, I cannot access them.

I keep getting the message; Windows cannot access \\user name\shared folder. You do not have permission etc etc

How on earth do I get permission?? I've Googled it and followed the procedures, but still hit the permission problem.

So.............can somebody help me?

I should mention that I'm trying to link my PC running Win7 with my laptop running Win8.1.
David.

You need to go to the folder in the other device and allow it to be shared. Then when you look via the network, you will be able to see and share (and, depending upon what permissions you set, read and/or write)
