Captial One debt sold to Cabot

Hi,
I received a letter from Cabot today regards an old Captial One credit card which tbh i had completely forgotten i ever had. It is registered to an address i lived at nearly 10 years ago. This is the first letter i've had about it in that time . Is this debt statute barred now and should my next step be to send Cabot the relevant letter regarding that?

Sounds like it. But you might want to check the other CRAs just to be sure of your ground.0

To add to this: on my credit report it says the default date is 2012, but i believe it to be older than that. Should i challenge with the debt statue barred anyway?0
