Car Repo - Barclays partner Finance (Scotland)
Hi folks.
I was sitting at home last night going through my finances and notice my car finance (Condition of Sale agreement), hadn't been paid for 5 months ... since around about the time I changed bank account. For whatever reason, the car payments didn't get moved over. I immediately called BPF this morning to make a payment towards the arrears but was informed that the account had been terminated and been passed onto someone for a reposession. They wouldn't discuss anything with me (even who they had passed it to, or when it was passed), they just said you'll need to speak to the posession agents.
I've had the car for less than a year, so it's way below the 1/3 payment thing, so I understand they don't need a Court Order to take posession.
My issue is, my circumstances haven't changed, I can afford the monthly payments and pay back the arrears (£800) within the next 4 - 6 weeks ... it was just a total mistake on my part.
They said they have tried to contact me about the arrears, which is possibly true, If I get something that looks like a bill I generally put it aside ... I definately havn't received anything "official" looking as if it might have come from a court or anything like that.
I'm just a bit stumped as to what to do ... I've been looking into a "time order" but I don't know if this is even applicable since they won't need a court order to repossess the car.
Do the reposession agents give you the option of making a payment plan, or is their job just to take the car? ... BPF wouldn't even tell me who these agents are, so I can't get in touch with them directly ... my worry is that they will jus turn up and take the car without any notice ... All I want to do is pay off the arrears and get back on the same monthly agreement but BPF wouldn't listen to anything I had to say.
Any advice?

check through those things you have set aside - there may be a letter, either telling you who it's been sent to, or from the company telling you they have been contacted. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0

I had a look through a lot of the most recent ones and didn't find anything, even from Barclay's ... stressed out now, I'll look through the rest in the morning0

How many letters have you been stockpiling?!0

It's not really a lot lol, generally I know if it's from Scottish power or the bank or 3, (the usual suspects RE:bills) those are the ones I don't generally even open, got a stockpile of about 10 months worth!. So I went through some if the recent ones, just the usual "smart meter, this direct debit failed" type thing (wouldn't have helped with the direct debit letters from the bank cause the car payments didn't get moved to this account)0

10 months worth, and you wonder why your in trouble.0

That's helpful, thanks.
Like I said, it wouldn't have made a difference in this case anyway.0 -
Why oh why did you not notice the payment hadnt been going through earlier.0

As entertaining as my mistake here is, you're not really being very helpful ... I don't expect a miracle solution but I could do without the rhetoric0
