Sort this out BEFORE bidding with a polite question, and education session...

Depends on your perspective, if they offer a certain postage charge for the UK (free or otherwise) then I expect them to honour it. I won't be contacting someone beforehand to give them the chance to charge me more if they haven't bothered to think about it.

Absolutely! Also, I've never heard of a seller in NI charging a certain rate for the UK but more for postage to Britain.

My assumption was that the use of Argos avoided things like couriers - going through the store network - or what would be the advantage?

I bought an item off eBay a while ago,it was a heavy bulky item, but the seller didn't state that it would cost any extra to NI,until after I had ordered and paid for it,when they emailed saying that it would cost £15. I told them they hadn't stated it on their listing and that I wasn't paying the charge and that I would report them to eBay if they insisted I pay it....they soon backed down, lol!!!

Sorry - I only meant if they stated 'UK mainland' or whatever. If it just says UK WE know we should be fine but theey might not. That's their fault, and theirs to fix. It's still in your best interests and be polite and tell them about the alternatives though, so that you actually get the product you just bid on.

This is the point - some simply don't realise and you might be the first person to have bid from NI - they may have been told this extra £15 by the courier. As you say, they can absorb it, or cancel the purchase.
