Extra charges for click and collect at Argos for items bought on ebay

Recently an Ebay seller wanted to charge me an £5 for delivery to NI by Argos Click and collect. After I had bought the item, I got a message that since it was not a mainland destination they would have to charge me extra or I could get a refund.
Since the ebay listing did not flag anything regarding extra costs for sending to my local Argos, I emailed the seller querying the extra charge and said I would rather have a refund than pay the extra. They opted for the refund.
Anybody have similar problems with buying on Ebay and delivered by Argos click and collect?

No. Used it twice so far - no additional charges. Sounds like they were trying it on to me.0

Bought a 200quid rug off ebay last Sunday, they offered free Argos click and collect, or free delivery to UK, I opted for free delivery. When I went to the company's official website later though they quote the same price for the rug, but £19.99 delivery to Northern Ireland.
I have a confirmation email from them immediately after the ebay purchase estimating delivery late next week, but heard nothing from them since.
To be honest I've been expecting a call (wouldn't be the first time). Will post here of any developments.0 -
There ya go, less than an hour after I typed the above I now have an email "item dispatched"!
Back to the original question though, I guess that would have been the same had I selected the Argos collect option - free delivery.
(Company was 'The Rug Retailer' btw...)0 -
Depending on the size of the item it might genuinely cost them more to get it over here from GB as couriers do charge. If it was relatively small item and was sent Royal Mail then some people in GB don't realise that the cost of postage is universal and it costs as much to send it here as it does to send it to their own address.
I buy video games, lots of them, it stuns me how many are not prepared to send them over here.
ETA: FWIW, I would have made them cancel and left negative feedback, they would soon learn to cover themselves in their listings.0 -
I went to buy an IteM, of clothing tonight and as I was on my Phone I did not see the does not post to NI so when I logged in on PC I seen it
also offered was Free p+p or pick up at Local Argos The Item was Located in Manchester and was light It is really Annoying and with so many using Phones to browse Ebay they could be caught out

I bought a car seat last week from Kidits (free delivery to the UK supposedly), once I put in my address they tacked on £10. Since they don't accept American Express I chose to pay via Paypal just so I could use it and get some airmiles, whatever way that then affected their address recognition the extra delivery charge disappeared
Order has now been dispatched and has made it as far as Belgium (they ship from Spain)

At first I assumed that the seller was trying it on, but their 100% rate gave me some doubts. It looks like they made a mistake - but it is a mistake that has annoyed one of their customers and is going to cost them their %100 record.0

Just this week I bought a space saver wheel for my car on ebay, click and collect at Argos, it was brilliant and delivery was free. However, on the posting it was made quite clear that delivery was not free to certain postcodes so all was transparent. I did have to get my six foot plus assistant to come with me though to lift the wheel, lol!“And all shall be well. And all shall be well. And all manner of things shall be exceeding well.”

some people in GB still think Northern Ireland is abroad."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0

Some couriers do charge extra to deliver to NI (I guess the Argos store's postcode would also trigger this), and the seller will pass it on. The simple answer is to use ParcelForce or Royal Mail who charge flat for the whole UK, but you can't force sellers to do that, they may have had a bad experience. Sort this out BEFORE bidding with a polite question, and education session...0
