Hi
I have a Floureon H264 dvr cctv system and been told this when I asked Floureon;
“” dvr need install a bulit-in 3.5 inch SATA hard drive to save recording(500GB to 2TB HDD),not support external hard drive.
you are better to use seagate brand hard drive , it is more compatible with your dvr””
I am no wiser now please could someone recommend a HD for me I really need some advice
thanks

So ... it doesn't come supplied with a hard drive, and the supplier / maker is expecting you to fit your own?
If so, they've told you what you need - just look for a internal Seagate 3.5" hard drive with a capacity between 500Gb and 2Tb. A search on Amazon will bring up a few.
You don't want a USB drive (an external one), you want an internal one.
Have you been given instructions on how to fit it? This page suggests all you need do is connect cables.

Depends how old the PC is - it requires a SATA interface and a really old PC might have a PATA drive. Use google to take a look at what the data connector and power connector look like.
I know from experience that cheap Chinese CCTV DVRs can be very picky over what HDD they will work with. The one I got suggested Western Digital drives for best compatibility and the first two I tried were not recognised. It worked fine with the third - I'm hoping that one won't break. My drives came from a stock of old ones so I didn't have the hassle of buying one and hoping it would work.0 -
Did you buy this thing new? And in the expectation that you would have to fit a hard drive yourself?0

Problem solved now
I tried an old hd out of an XP pc and this works
The dvr was left in the house I purchased.

In my DVR I fitted an old 120GB drive, I found the whole thing got too warm though (around 80c when recording constantly for more than 1 hour) and drawing nearly 1A from the 12v power supply. Eventually the power supply exploded in a cloud of black smoke.
So I bought a 2.5 to 3.5 adaptor tray for £5 and fitted a 2.5" 200GB drive instead.
Now it stays nice and cool, drawing less than 300mA and i'm much happier leaving it unattended.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

OK spoke to soon
Well so much for çctv working
Alarm going off and no communication between unit and TV
Tried unplugging and waiting but the alarm still goes off and TV says no signal
24 hours of it working OK
plugs are warm to touch when I checked it at 12 then 6 .30 I heard a buzzing and it was the alarm on çctv
Very nearly binned it but will wait for my son to look at it and see if anyone on here has any advice.Spending my time reading how to fix PC's,instead of looking at Facebook.0
