Is it possible to open a UK bank account while living abroad?

Hi there.
I would really appreciate any advice on how to open a UK bank account while abroad.
I'm in Australia and just about to sell my house but the pound has dropped so low I now need to leave the money in a UK account until the value hopefully increases again.
I have a basic Santander account but the interest is very low so I'm looking to open an account that will give me a higher interest rate if possible.

You could always open a GBP account with a bank in Australia. Plenty of expats hold accounts in both currencies.0
