Lost my request for license after speeding ticket

I was caught speeding on camera two weeks ago. It was indeed me and I am not looking to contest it (caught reducing speed into a variable on the M25 but didn't get down in time, next time I'll brake harder!)
I was sent a notice of prosection by Kent Police asking me to send me license in plus sign a declaration that it was me driving.
I've managed to lose the letter. I think my partner has thrown it away thinking it was the paperwork that came with his license (he just ordered a new one) because it is no longer pinned on our fridge and the old letter that came with his license is!
Will a letter I write to Kent Police, with a declaration and a sigature, plus all the details of the offense (I know the rough time, the date, the area is was for, my license, car description, speed and speed limit. I obviously can't remember any given reference number) be enough? I know that the main thing they wanted to know was "was it actually you" and to see my license, so as long as I make that explicitly clear, sign it, and send it to them will it be OK? I really don't want to get stung if they decide it's not valid and then the 28 day time limit is up by the time they get back to me

You could try phoning the ticket office and explaining the destroyed document and ask what to do. They may send out a new one0

Good idea, I'll give them a call this morning.
Here is the letter I was planning to send, in case anyone has any opinions:I was recently sent a notice of prosecution for a speeding ticket fine in the Clacket Lane area, from Kent Police.
Unfortunately I have misplaced the letter but would like to use this correspondence as an opportunity to provide the information requested and hope that not having the official form does not hinder the process.
[all the details inc my name, birthdate, car stuff, area here etc]
As requested I can confirm that it was myself driving the car and I am aware that I was over the speed limit. I have signed below to indicate that I agree to the notice of prosecution.
Yours sincerely,
EDIT: Well that was easier than expected. I didn't think I'd be able to just call upa nd get a straight answer. Or I figured it would take hours on hold.
Called up, spoke to someone within minutes. She took my email address and has sent me a copy of the original form I can print out at home. Nice! Definitely a better experience than expected (fine aside!)0 -
It needs asking, why now that they have done away with the paper counterpart of the driving licence and endorsements don't appear on the photo card do they still require the licence to be sent in?0

I guess it makes it harder for me to say that you were driving? I have to get my hands on your licence too.0

The Met Police send out another NIP a few weeks later if they don't receive a reply, not sure about Kent.
Good advice above already0 -
