O/S Daily Thread for thursday 7th July

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

    Morning all

Thankfully I slept better last night, so I'm feeling nearly human this morning.

I got the rest of the shopping yesterday for feeding the DGC so the fridge is bulging at the seams, we won't starve this weekend even if we can't get out. I'm not attempting anything much with all four o them in tow.

Hubby is all ready to go too, he's just got to pack his clothes. I hope he has a good time, it's his one big treat of the year.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning everyone.

    Thanks for the thread HH.

Yesterday was a total washout, the rain started at 9.15am and didn't stop all day.

My hair cut made me feel more normal again. Then I picked up a couple of things in town, took the cardboard mountain to the tip and finally got cash from the bank. At home some serious packing took place and my two deliveries came on time. One is a perfect base layer for walking and the other is a very lightweight mac which rolls up very small.

I ate little bits and pieces from the fridge so it's almost empty now. There's just one avocado, a little lettuce and two tomatoes left for today.

This morning I'm out at 'work' until noon and after that I have to prep the living room for the workmen coming in next week whilst the house is empty. At last the corner cupboard and huge immersion heater are being removed and a proper corner reinstated.

Somewhere along the line there will be a gin poured and drunk before bedtime.

    Happy Thursday everyone.

Morning all and thanks again HESTER for starting us off. Yesterday was bright and breezy all day but there is evidence of a little overnight rain. The sun is now trying to get out.

I had a good night out with the girlies last night. The carvery was up to the usual good standard (as was the wine!) and we had a catch up of gossip, news and some laughs. A good night all round.

Today we have the trip to Leeds for Mr TA's Oncology appointment and monthly injection. I swear these appointments roll round fortnightly! I just hope we are not kept waiting an hour and a half like last time! We have two of the DGDs here for tea, after swimming, followed by the usual sleepover and school run in the morning. Of course the eldest is in Germany so one less this time! Not given a thought to what we are eating but probably scampi (or pizza) and chips if we are late back again.

Nice to hear from you BB, I wondered where you had disappeared to. Sorry you have been unwell. Also pleased to hear LAMEWOLF is ok and hopefully she will be back with us soon with tales of her doggy lodgers. GERS enjoy your holiday, it sounds fantastic and fingers crossed your jobs are finished when you get back. Hope HESTER'S DH enjoys his weekend away too.

Have a good day all, must make a start getting ready now for our bus/train/bus journey to St James. It's always a long, tiring day. (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed and take care xx

    Morning everyone,

Dry here but a bit cloudy, hoping for some sunshine this afternoon.

Did a stock shop yesterday so at least have something in my freezer now, even though I finish work at 2pm so am home by 2.30 the afternoons seem to whizz by what with chores and seeing Bill etc, still keeps me out of trouble :)
Not much planned for today though, ordered a new steam mop and it came yesterday so will try that out on the wooden floors, the walk way between kitchen and dining room especially gets dirty with the girls etc so am thinking a small mat?

Love the sound of your holiday Gers, my kind of thing, all that walking etc.
Hey BB, glad you feel better enough to post.
Hester, as always your energy amazes me!
Hope all goes well today TA.

Have a good day everyone, take care folks x

DS1s flat is looking good, he has made the balconies into fantastic sitting spaces with wood decking and rugs, etc. Hoping for more sunshine so I can eat out there again.

Have a good holiday Gets, hope the weather's kind to you.

Hi everyone, thanks for the thread HH.

Didn't get to post yesterday so hugs to anyone that needs them.

I'm at the gym this morning. Legs have recovered from the class I did the other day, but standing all afternoon in Hyde Park on Tuesday was challenging! The weather was good though, and we made some good contacts for the charity. I did double youth club last night, the last one of this term. Of 36 children only one parent said thank you as they left. Looking forward to having Wednesday's off for the next few weeks!

DH will do a small shop today. DS1 is away this weekend and needs some ambient food to take with him. Hoping he comes back in one piece :(

Gers - love the jumper, enjoy your hols.
TA - hope all goes well today

    Have a good day all

    Good morning chums,

When I finished work yesterday at 5, I left to help my friend set up his gym 15 mins away. Next thing I know, it's 10pm  So I said my goodbyes, got home, washed and straight to bed. Missed the Wales games and no dinner.

So this morning I got up early and made myself a healthy breakfast of poached eggs, crispy bacon on wholemeal toast that'll hopefully tide me over.

In work today were being taught about the threat of terror attacks given that we work in a public place and regularly have events for up to 10,000 people. A sign of the world we live in now.

Must dash, have a lovely day everyone :)

Good Morning chums, bright and dry here in north Kent today.I have my gardener coming this morning to mow the lawn and tidy things up a bit.He is worth his weight in gold bless him as he also will do odd jobs that I can't do anymore.
Mainly anything to do with climbing up a ladder :):):) falling off ladders are no a good idea when you are getting on a bit as I'm not a weeble even though I maybe weeble shaped ,so I don't bounce :)

Small bit of ironing to do while I watch Versailles on catch-up I think. Then I may do my shopping today to save a bit of time tomorrow.

Only a couple more weeks then the boys break up from school so I need extra flour, marg etc for cake making.
Hope everyone has a good day today and the sunshines down on you all

    Cheers JackieO xx

Morning, thank you for the thread Hester.

We have had lovely days this week, dry with a breeze and sun peeping out from behind the clouds. I am not working today and it is raining.

I've been looking a prepping for emergencies thread in this part of the board and it has made me think k about the stuff we stockpile. I think we could ride out a difficult period but possibly not a full scale disaster.

Went to M*raison on the way home last night and there were good reductions on cheese. Mostly blue cheese types. The lady with the reduced stickers said that it was meant to be only the blue ones but popped a reduced to 15p sticker on a big piece of farmhouse cheddar for me and told me that she might just as well, she was losing the will to live. She did look tired.

I'm tired too, long days at work and little sleep. I shall muck out the bathroom, change the bedlinen and do some essentials and then flop. Will make some toys as I love doing that. Dentist tomorrow for a checkup, yikes.

I am going to make a curry tonight for dinner. Breathe garlicky fumes at my dentist but he won't notice, he breathed garlicky fumes at me last time!

My OH has just made me some tea, and brought the newspaper, what an indulgence.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
