To net £500 per month you're going to have to earn around £750 as you are higher rate tax payer. The sort of work being suggested is going to be low paid, probably on National Living wage of £7.20 per hour. That means you would need to work in excess of 100 hours per month, 20+ hours per week. It doesn't sound very realistic.
Also, if your existing employer would object, is it really worth the risk?

Doesn't really seem feasible to me to earn that amount of money in a basic job. You are talking 100 hours per month to get your £500 net, and on the salary of £50k, I doubt you'd be prepared to do that.

I also wouldn't risk an employer finding out either. You would be breaching the working time directive (you would need to sign opt-out forms etc), so you would really need to be telling them.

I used to do this. I only used to earn about 27k in my first job and then about 7k in my second job. It is extremely tiring and only sustainable in the short term. You might be better off considering tutoring as others have suggested. Have a look on the job boards, you never know when the perfect 2nd role might come up.

I would suggest better budgeting of your current job would be a better idea than getting a second job in a Supermarket.

Or asked for extra hours at your current job or a raise.

You want £500 p/m for 6 months that is just £3k.
Matched betting (assuming you have not done that before) is your friend and should give you that money much quicker and from the comfort of your home.
Don't compete with people who are on minimum wages or just above. You won't be welcomed and they will soon find out you are making much more from your day job... then you become outcast...

Besides, with you being on 40% tax, even 12 p/hr won't give you £500 p/m net with working 8 hrs at 8 weekend days. And they do not pay that much for stacking shelves.
    This.

And if you have a few friends that want 'help' then £1k+ is easily achievable (assuming no kids and you don't have anything better to do on a Saturday) even in this day and age.

I also got to be careful that my main job does not find out about the second. Would contacting help avoid that?

Any advice will be much appreciated

If you have a professional day job, chances are your contract has a covenant preventing you from taking a second job. Does it?

If you've entered into a contract to only have one job, a weekend job is out of the question. It's not worth losing your career over a couple of hundred quid.

As Snakey says, in your situation, far better to look at reducing costs and 'making money' that way.

You could also look at reducing the costs of the wedding ...

DONT spend so much money on a wedding day, plan for the days/life after the day and dont let a wedding day put you in any debt.

Or how about Courier? Night security? Mini cab driver?

    Don't drive for Uber.

You won't earn the £550/weekend they promise you, and out of the £3-400 in gross fares, you'll pay 25% to them, then have £80/week in insurance, large maintainence bills and 15% in petrol/diesel, plus a newish car to run.

Other minicab firms I don't know, but if you can get a company car with 50/50 split (you pay fuel) for the weekend, then you could do ok. That arrangement is a lot more common outside of London though.
