Has she thought of ditching printed newsletters and emailing instead? The likes of Calameo and issuu allow you to publish online magazines which you can then email a link to selected people if you wish to keep it private, or publish for the world to read.

I've ditched colour and gone for an HP 1102W laserjet which I'm very happy with.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B019Y9MVRW/ref=pdp_new_dp_review - cost me less than £10 for 6 complete sets of cartridges (plus an extra 6 black) and they appear to be identical to OEM ones !!
This compares to £7.50 for a single Epson cartridge !!

Trouble is, if you only use an inkjet printer occasionally you'll find the cartridges dry out while the machine is unused. This can make a printer ridiculously expensive on a per print basis.
I have had (and used) inkjet printers for over 20 years - when they do dry out - just run the clean cartridge facility - which uses a little ink (but since they are so cheap - it doesn't matter)

I don't switch the printer off after every use which stops it doing a head clean every time you switch it on.
P.S. Before the eco warriors start moaning, I haven't noticed a huge increase in my leccy bill!!!!

I'm not talking about clogged print heads. I'm talking about empty ink reservoirs because all the ink's evaporated!

Epsons don't have reservoirs - they print directly from the cartridge - and this is sealed - except for tiny holes which, if they become blocked just a head clean will cure !
