Part time student loan funding for OU?

Hi
Could anyone tell me whether there is a minimum number of credits you need to do with Open University to be eligible for the student loan funding?
My friend already has a HNC in the subject he wants to study and according to the info pack should be able to do credit transfer this for 90 credits meaning he will only need to do 30 credits at level 1.
Just unsure though whether this is enough credits to get funding? I wasn't sure if you have to do 60 to get the tuition loan or if 30 is ok?
Grateful if anyone has any experience/knowledge of this please?

That isn't how OU degrees work. 60 credits at level 1, 120 at level 2 and 120 at level 3 for a standard bachelors (300 credits altogether).
For a bachelors with honours, it is the same as the above but you get 60 credits free choice at any level, in any subject, although these may be eaten up by the HNC.
I suggest your "friend" calls OU to clarify, as either you or your "friend" don't seem to understand the levels of it?0 -
I am actually starting my final OU module in October to get my Open degree with honours so I do understand how OU works - what I don't understand is funding in this situation as it is different to my own.
I'm not sure about your reasons for the use of ''friend'' either, you come across quite passive aggressive although I have no idea of your reasons behind it. I get the feeling you are of the opinion that there is no friend, I assure you I have no interest in an engineering degree for myself, it really is a friend!
I don't know about loan funding with OU as I am on transitional funding myself which means my fees are far lower and I can afford to pay them using OUSBA hence the question about loans.
Already asked about credit transfer and been told in this instance that the HNC is worth 90 credits and will need to do another 30 credits at level 1 before moving on to level 2.
As you can see there are 120 compulsory at level 1 for this -
http://www.open.ac.uk/courses/qualifications/q65#course-details
Stage 1 is made up of 4 30 credit modules - all compulsory unless credit transferring which he is so will have another 30 left to do which is one of the modules.
Hence the question about whether student loan can be used for this or whether you need to be studying 60 credit to get a loan as 30 credits is not many study hours so wasn't sure if it counted.
I asked on here hoping someone may have had a similar experience because my friend has spent a lot of time on hold both to OU and student finance to try and find an answer. I thought that is what these forums were for, helping each other.0 -

Fabulous, thank you very much! That link was just what we needed. Tells us that you can get funding for 30 credit but not usually for less than 30. Thank you for you help0
