Euston station

Options
Hi

My MIL is travelling down by train to meet up with friends in London. They're going to meet her at Euston but can anyone suggest a specific place within the station? She's not the most confident person so we've got visions of her wondering aimlessly looking for her friends

Thanks

There are a number of shops at Euston and a plaza for eating in, in the main forecourt area with big screens in, so might be best to arrange to meet by a particular shop. If I am meeting up with my sister to travel home with her, we meet in front of the Boots store (it si to the left as you exit the platforms). She could meet up in front of the information kiosk. Here is a video of Euston train station so she can see places (the platforms are past the bodyshop).

    Is she confident with maps?

    https://www.networkrail.co.uk/EustonStationMap.pdf

Downloadable, print it off for her, etc etc

Look into assisted travel options with whichever rail provider is running the service, or with Euston directly.

Surely your friends could get there before the train arrives and meet her at the platform, though?

Arrivals will be announced over the tannoy, and platform numbers shown on the screens around the station....

Don't go with WHSmiths. I did this once to find out there were two. There is an accessorise near the right hand exit which is quie prominent and has seats down the side

Snap! I arranged to meet someone outside one at Waterloo. You couldn't see the two WHSmiths from each other. Many of the other shops were duplicated too. I ended up making a rule I'd meet people in front of Platform One, because there's always one and only one of those in every station.

    Some stations don't have a Platform 1 - Stirling doesn't (it's now a car park) and some stations will have a 1A and 1B

And Kings Cross has a platform 0 (as well as nine and three-quarters).

I despair! Is there any chance of a numbering system that makes sense, and sticking to it?

Sometimes when changes are made at stations platforms are completely renumbered as happened at Reading, for instance. If just a minor change is made such as at Kings Cross calling the new platform 0 maintained the logical progression of the numbers without confusing people by changing the number of every platform.

Isn't there both a McDonalds and a Burger King? You could get them to meet by the tills, probably the easiest place in my experience.
