    Photogenic Debt-free and Proud!
    Good morning everyone,

Feeling pretty positive today after a productive night last night.

My car insurance was going to run out tomorrow and my auto renewal quote for RAC was over £300 more expensive, for no reason!!! So I followed the guide on this forum. I got costs from 3 different comparison websites and then phoned the 3 companies which aren't listed on the sites. I then went back to the RAC and asked if they could get the price down, to which the answer was no, So I then contacted the cheapest insurer which happened to be Direct Line and asked if they could shave off a few pennies. By the end of it, I'd saved just over £400!!! Delighted.

While I was still buzzing from that MSE high, I opened up a Help to Buy account, again I followed the guide on here and chose Virgin Money with the best interest rate and it only costs £1 to open, so why wait?

I visited the library to collect my Kon Marie book however it hadn’t arrived which the staff and I were confused about it their system and my email said it had arrived at my local library to collect. Not to worry, I re-ordered along with The Way of the Peacful Warrior by Dan Millman.

I deep cleaned everywhere apart from the floors and I even managed time to update my laptop to windows 10, free of charge.

Filled with even more determination now, I’m looking forward to the week ahead and feel a weight off my shoulders. Happy days.

Gers - thanks for the heads up on the M&S sale, my favourite pair of work trousers are from there - £5 they cost me. And that jacket/jumper is lovely, nice choice.
TA - That's a great deal on the glasses! Much better than what I paid last year.

    Have a nice day everyone.

Just back at DDs after going to the WI charity shop in a nearby village. My purse was on its last legs and getting very tatty and I found one in leather Ok its a sort of pinkish shade but its really roomy and got lots of pockets for my 'loyalty' cards etc plus at 60p its not breaking the bank :) I had priced similar up at the local mall and they were £15.00 plus I am a very happy lady with my nice pink purse now :)
I shall definitely go there again at some point. My bargain of the week I think :):):)
  • Good afternoon everyone, it's been a hot day here today poor old He Who Knows has done two stints on the allotment digging up new potatoes and has come back decidedly 'glowing' both times. We've spotted potato blight and he thought getting the new potatoes out would be sense.

The plumber located the part to fix our out of action bathroom toilet and came to fit it at lunchtime, thank goodness, no more having to go downstairs at 2 in the morning!

Washing has dried really well today, bedding all back into the airing cupboard and smelling delicious.

Hope you've all had a nice day, Lyn xxx.

    Afternoon.
Jackie O well done on your bargain.
Rest of washing dried on line. Dressing gowns washed again as done earlier in year but then used as weather cooled down.Kids have already eaten as son at football training at 6. Daughter has brought home her school report which is as expected a mixed bag , she has a lot of problems due to her attachment disorder which the education psychologist described to me as including her social, emotional and mental health but unfortunately a few members of staff aren't clued up on it and perceive her as been lazy. Also she is an August birthday and is better at practical subjects. She's bought some textile work home and her hand sewing is exquisite.

Forms finished and a bookcase of mine sorted out. Lots for charity shop.

Hugs to those who want/ need them.

Hello All.............Been MIA again, yet more illness, more hospital visits and a severe bout of the black dog mini-dog-2932.gifare to blame :(

Starting to feel a bit better now the sun is out, but still having down days. I think the grey weather just got to me.

The last two days I have been pottering in the garden planting seedlings out and such. MIL made me two beautiful hanging baskets :). We havehad lots of strawberries, raspberries and loganberries and the blueberries are in abundance (All the rain, I suppose) But my veg has really struggled this year.

DH has just been diagnosed with Gout! So I have been looking up the things he needs to avoid. Believe it or not All fish, Cod Liver Oil tablets and Omega 3 fish oils are a no, no.
I have just made a cheese and onion pie for dinner tonight and we will have that with new potatoes and baked beans

    BFN xx

BB Himself has had gout for many years, and he drinks a small glass of cherry juice each morning with breakfast. It helps to keep it at bay, but he also has medication from the GP which probably your DH has been prescribed.

I have seen him barely able to walk upstairs (he has it in his big toe joint) so I know how painful it can be.

I hope he doesn't have it too often

Hello again all , sorry but this will be a quick one as I overdid things good style both yesterday and today and now both body and brain are protesting .
At least the freezer is well stocked thanks to yesterdays marathon cooking and freezing session and if I don't feel up to much cooking I don't need to . The new iron is really good and a bargain for the price , I have conquered the ironing mountain but feel really tired now .
The replacement charger for my laptop ( genuine replacement ) has a fitting to the the laptop end which is too large ! It will cost a great deal to return so I think I will have to suck it up . Back to the drawing board and possibly a new laptop which is not a welcome idea moneywise but can by done if other things are delayed . I have kept this one limping along a long time with the help of the family techies but for the last few weeks it has been a nightmare . All my bookmarks have gone , I am having problems getting into mse and basically I think it's time is done . Daughters partner took it apart a week ago and thinks a hard drive is failing , he also found a major virus . I would welcome any comments from those who have gone from Windows 7 to 10 ( including any like myself who may be pretty IT useless )
Anyway I have distracted myself from your news so will say thanks to Hester , Good luck to Mr TA tomorrow , hopefully a rest and some sleep for AOD and gentle hugs , spoons and if needed sticks to any who want .
Thanks for todays posts sorry the brain and laptop are struggling .
    Take care all x
    polly
Best wishes to BB and hope things look up soon . Help yourself to hugs , spoons and sticks x

Hi everyone :) Today here is dry and even sunny:) yay....... I have so enjoyed reading all of your posts, trying to catch up. I have the washing out since this morning, shopping all done on Monday there, so plenty in now. My dh defrosted the fridge-freezer the day before the shopping was done, so pleased at another big job done:) I can iron tomorrow afternoon, as we are going shoe shopping (dh) and I am just going along for the drive. I have all the windows open which I like to do every day. I am making a stocking for Christmas for our little grandson who will be 3, 5 days after Christmas day. It is my fist attempt and have taken my time over it, and I am pleased at how it is turning out. I like to sew but am only a learner, but it is relaxing:) I knit in the evenings when I watch some television. I enjoyed cross stitching many years ago as someone else mentioned earlier? I too find my eyes not really up to it now, but I will maybe pick it up again at a later date. It seems to take forever to thread the needle :) My dh is cooking tonight so that is nice. We took a little video of the veg patch out the back, to send to our dd and one of the lads out in Australia, as they both enjoy growing things too. The few things we are growing are coming on well enough, though we have lost a few lettuces and the spring onions and leeks are so skinny lol. Pollyanna we have windows 7 too and have tried several times to change it to windows 10 but after it is "downloading" to 10 for hours it doesn't succeed so we feel useless:) Hope you manage to get yours sorted Pollyanna. Take care everyone, will pop on again soon Margaret x
