Personally I'm finding in my commuter belt area of Hertfordshire that the nice well priced (well priced as in priced the same as other similar houses in the area) within a mile of the station are still coming on at the same price they were pre brexit and are selling. There does seem to be less coming on though.

There are some reductions but they are ones that were listed pre-brexit and at a ridiculous price to start with (riduculous compared to other similar and sometimes nicer properties in the area)

After an initial rush of people who need to sell dropping prices, I think the most likely outcome is the market pretty much stalls as most people sit tight and wait to see what happens. Even if prices drop, there will be few houses to buy which will be tough on those who have to move for personal reasons.

The insane rate of house price rises where I live had to come to a halt sooner rather than later anyway as it's hard to see how anyone could possibly afford them. When I live, SE England, if prices fell by a third that might put them back to where they were 18months ago and still well above where they were a year or two above that.

Longer term I guess they will start rising again, the history of house prices this country over about the past 50 years hasn't been one of gradual rises but of ludicrous increases and decreases in short periods of time. Looks like we are at the beginning of another period of a drop, around here anyway. Maybe in places where prices didn't rise so hugely over the past 5+ years, it will be different.

Can all these people claiming houses are going up in price and/or going SSTC post-Brexit post some links from Rightmove please?

Where I live, out of about 200 houses in my search radius ONE has gone SSTC since the referendum. ~30 have come back on the market.

  • Hi I am in Bromley and we are really struggling to get people through the door post Brexit had one offer at £50k below asking price (which was already competitively priced at £25k below what we and the EA believed we could get for it) and no viewings in the last week.

    Everyone is waiting.

At the moment if you want to sell you'll need to price your house ridiculously low to entice people to ditch their worries and uncertainty and just go for it. Once the direction the country will take becomes clearer it will pick up.

There is still lending available. There is still a demand for housing.

I'm not saying prices are going up. I am saying properties are being listed post brexit and are selling. Though less are being listed.

Follow the train line north out of Euston, Kings Cross or St Pancras and look within a mile of each station. The Bedford line, the Milton Keynes line, the Cambridge line, the Peterborough line.

    Basically anything I couldn't afford before I still can't afford now :)

Don't think I've seen many reductions in Chingford or Leigh-on-Sea, but think I've noticed more in Stansted Mountfitchet and the cheap side of Hertford and Roydon.

Still loads coming onto the market. Over 100 in the last couple of weeks in each of Chingford and Leigh.

Is there any way to filter to show the reduced properties on RM?

A few price reductions down here but literally by a couple of thousand. Still not a lot coming on the market. I know as we are looking! And only have 8 weeks till we have to be out of our rented. Think we will end up renting again.
