Parking Eye - letter before County Court

Hello, Please can someone advise? My son is away in America for several months and meanwhile he has received a Parking Charge Notice for overstaying at a local supermarket (before he went away). Originally we ignored it (we were out of date with our advice and thought this was the thing to do!). But now this Letter Before County Court Claim has arrived, quoting this court case with Mr Beavis in Nov 2015 and we have realised that we shouldn't have ignored it! I don't want him to have a CCJ against him whilst he's away so can anyone help please on what to do? I went on their appeals page on their website and just put that the addressee of the letter is not resident in the UK, but I don't know whether that will be enough. Thank you!

Get in touch with Morrisons HO and tell them that their parking contractor is threatening to sue one of their customers in the county court. Morrisons don't like PE as a result of the damage to their business (but the contract between the two means that PE carry on until expiry).
Search the forum for 'ParkingEye Morrisons' and you will read a good number of threads where complaints have been upheld by Morrisons. Change the default search parameter from 'Show Threads' to 'Show Posts'.Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

How long was the overstay? Less than 5 minutes, 10,15, 30 , 1 hour, more? From the Plain Language Commission:

It was more than an hour unfortunately0

Why not give the court his address in the USA?You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

as above , do not state when he will be back , only that he is in the USA and his address , PE would look rather foolish starting a claim , knowing that he cannot receive (and act on) papers within the allotted time , and they would be shot down if they went for a default
in this case I think a signed for type letter to them , with a email backup (CCED to a friend) should cover this in case of royal mail having a heart attack or a huge email breakdown at chorley towersSave a Rachael

This is so easy.
Tell you son (NOT YOU) to email Morrisons tonight and complain and it will be cancelled within days. Should have done that at the outset! M's cancel them all when people complain, even with no receipt (but enclosing some recent receipts of yours/a family loyalty card would be good too). M's will cancel anyway though - do not mention how long the overstay is. YOU MUST tell them the PCN number xxxxxx/xxxxxx.
Meanwhile, email ParkingEye as well (IN YOUR SON'S NAME OF COURSE) and tell them you (son's name!) has complained to Morrisons so you require that they put the case on hold for 21 days and confirm same. He could state:
I travel abroad a lot so have never seen any Notice or letter and nor am I aware of any contravention by a driver of my car so please also send me a copy of the alleged PCN.
^^^{that's merely to buy some time while M's cancel it}
IMHO this is all done by email and over within a week:
enforcement@parkingeye.co.uk
and
donotreply@morrisonsplc.co.uk
Job done. NO LETTERS, NO SNAIL MAIL POST.
But NOT emails sent in your name - the responses must come 'from' the person the LBCCC is addressed to, but you could set up a throwaway email addy in his name and do it for your son.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
