    Muttering about BTL really only comes from those who feel they've been priced out of ownership - which comes back to my point about constrained demand. Particularly, it comes back to the bit of it about reality - BTL purchasing only makes sense when the yield figure is high enough - which means relatively low compared to rent, which means that the people being priced out are actually being priced out by mortgage affordability rules, rather than BTL. And, as we all know after 2008, they're there for very sound reasons.

    Of course, there's a lot of BTL purchasing that doesn't make sense, but is done anyway because numpties think it's a licence to print money... But that's another rant entirely.

    Migration isn't evenly spread though throughout the UK. Nearly 1% of "Londoners" are now French for example.
