  • A few spends today...

£8 in the chemist this morning on painkillers, mouthwash, floss, and shower gel. I was in need of ibuprofen for the tooth ache and want to do everything I can to save my teeth so bought a couple of bits.

Went out at lunch with my work team. This had been planned but luckily I had a voucher so only came to £4.50. Unfortunately due to the pain I only managed about half my meal :(

Just picked up a chocolate bar for my husband as a little treat for being so good to me.

So I've spent around £13 today :( but not the end of the world.

Hoping for a NSD tomorrow :)

    Doing well :money:

  • Hey you're doing well but you can push yourself harder. More no spend days! Only spend what you absolutely must! No going away for the weekend! Stop having meals out!

If you live like you've lost your job and do not spend one un-needed penny, you will have that debt gone much faster and the holiday funds where you need them to be. You can do it!

You want to move into a house and start a family...so live like you're doing it, stop all unnecessary spending! :)
  • I feel your pain. I managed to clear my debt by selling my car (MOT, tax, insurance, repairs ... all got a bit too much) and saving religiously (money straight out of my account on pay day). Sounds like you're on the right track. Just keep on remembering that finally being debt free is THE best feeling. You may not be able to sell you car (even if you have one) but how about your wedding dress? You'll always have the memories ...
  • Btw I may be a little biased as I, along with a few others, have just set up a site called Bridaloop.com for buying and selling wedding dresses so in the interests of not appearing too biased i'll mention that there are a handful of other sites out there. Just search on Google xx

Thank you :) really appreciate all kinds of support, encouragement or advice.

I really am trying to cut my spending. The weekend away we had and lunch in London were both bought as gifts for our birthdays earlier in the year.
We only went for one night. The old me would have upgraded for an extra night but we were sensible and stuck to the one and had a budget which we stuck to.

I'm still new to this so its hard to cut my bad habits straight away. At the moment it's just a challenge to get to the end of the month without using my spending credit card or borrowing.

I managed to save for my wedding and clear some debt in the last year rather than add to it so I'm doing something right.

We don't eat out often and never get takeaways.

I can't really get out of team lunches at work. They don't happen often and are usually for a birthday or because someone is leaving.

    I'm trying :p

We own our flat that we live in. The house is just a dream at the moment.

I'm young and newly married I don't think I could stop everything all together. I might get to be debt free a little bit sooner but I wouldn't be very happy in the process :(

I'm going for that NSD today! :A

Thank you :) how long did it take you?
Unfortunately I don't have a car. I commute on the train into work so there is no need for me to have one.
We only have one parking space for our flat so I share my husbands car when I need it.
You're right about the wedding dress. I've thought about it but haven't quite decided what I want to do with it yet. I love it so much and only got married a couple of months ago. I've not even cleaned it yet :rotfl: but will keep that in mind thank you.

I have direct debits in place to go onto my credit cards on pay day and now that I think I've caught up with myself financially I should hopefully be able to put any extra money I have left at the end of the month towards debt or the honeymoon. :)
