Hello everyone! Me and my boyfriend came to UK in 2013. We decided go to the university this year and applied for maintenance grant but unfortunately we're working less then 36 months (I started in October 2013, my boyfriend December 2013) so we can't apply yet for non-repayable maintenance grant. We don't have any financial support from ours parents so we decided to wait another year of going to the University and working one more year to be able apply for maintenance grant in 2017. We would like to buy a house on mortgage this year and my question is: can we get maintenance grant and loans for tuition fees next year if we will have mortgage? Thanks for help

No because maintenance grants have been scrapped.
Loans don't take into account your mortgage or repayments on such.0 -

Are you both EU students or international students? Until 25th March this year, in order to qualify for student finance for maintenance support as an EU student you had to have been resident in the UK for 36 months (3 years) prior to the first day of the first academic year of your course. However that changed to 5 years for new students from 25th March this year. Maintenance grants have also been scrapped for new students on new courses starting 1st September 2016 or later (with much bigger maintenance loans available).
Student loans don't affect mortgage applications as they don't go on credit files. They only affect affordability criteria (by taking into account your outgoings in repayments).0
