energy performance certificate
Hi everyone,
My concerns are regarding the EPC certification. Although i want my property to be well insulated and reduce my energy bills, i feel that the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive introduced by the EU is dead money. The only thing this has done is produce another wave of people training to be energy assessors. Now that we are out of the EU are these EPC's still required.
I notice that only 3% of government owned buildings have to be done!
I feel raped and pillaged by the EU.

Slight flaw in your argument. We are still firmly in the EU and we will be for at least the next 2 years. The clock starts ticking once the PM invokes Article 50. It follows that as of today, we continue to pay our EU dues; send MEPs to Brussels and comply fully with the EU obligations enshrined in our law.
Moreover, what makes you think that the UK Government will drop EPCs when we come out of the EU? My guess is that any Government will reform EU law very slowly. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
There was a parliamentary expert on the BBC news channel who stated that when the 1974 enabling act is revoked then all purely European law and directives vanish literally overnight.
An EPC will then no longer be a legal requirement but in reality most buyers will ask for one for some time.
IMO they are worthless and good riddance.

The UK government will implement any law that involves making us pay. I understand that they will be slow to retract the directive, or they will adopt it as it is a good money spinner. plus it stops us focusing on what their fiddles are.
I bet all their houses (port folios) are exempt.0
