Would appear that having not used a Voltage regulator (we enjoy fluctuating voltage in Cyprus ), my 3 Year Old Samsung Smart TV is beyond economic repair(Samsung tech center) so looking at a replacement , choices are ; Samsung UE40J527OSSXTK with 1920/1080 resolution or for another £120 the UE40JU6070UXTKXTK with resolution of 3840/2160, main uses are PS3 and Filmon/Android Channels , Is it worth the extra ??

Thanks

If you want to "future proof" then go for it.

Still very little UHD content around and I doubt there's going to be a huge influx any time soon.

This person is in Cyprus so definitely won't have access to BT Sport UHD.

UHD basically very very little content and probability that by the time the OP gets content the newer tech will be at similar prices .
Plus points are generally excellent picture quality even on non UHD content .

Most people have mixed opinions on Ultra HD TVs, since there is a limited amount of content available at the present moment. I've seen them in store and they look okay, but not great, but if you do want something that is future proof, then go for it.

Samsung probably would rather you buy a new TV, but this is MSE - I'd be looking for a new/second hand power board on eBay - usually simple enough to replace in Samsungs.
