Applying for PIP

Hi folks

I applied for PIP on the phone then was sent the "How disability affects you" questionnaire and sent it back on time after getting CAB help with it.

I received a text saying "The DWP have received your "How disability affects you" questionnaire. We may need you to attend a consultation with a health professional before we make our decision. We will contact you again if we do. Please call us if any of the details have changed."

Can anyone tell me if this is just a standard text message sent to everyone when they return the form? Im assuming they will contact my Psychiatrist next then decide if im needed for interview?

Thanks

    Yes, it's standard wording.

They might not contact your psychiatrist - I haven't heard of them writing to many doctors, they tend to use what you send and the face to face assessment if they send you to one. It's incredibly rare not to be called to the interview though.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

Mine contacted my GP, even though I listed my Psychiatrist as the one who knows me best! I have no idea what the GP said, and apparently nor does she as she has denied, by email (to the practice secretary) receiving or sending anything, and as a locum wouldn't be doing paperwork anyway. I have no idea why they'd contact a GP who never sees me about mental health, over a Psychiatrist who sees me for nothing but mental health and is the expert medically and on me personally!

The assessment providers - ATOS, Capita, Maximus - are allowed to contact GPs but, I believe, only DWP can contact specialists (cos they cost more).
