Hi hope you guys can help. Basically i want to know how i can get the cheapest gas and electric supplier. I have just brought my first home and all the info i can find is about switching suppliers which doesnt help me too much!! your thought will be gratefully received.

Make sure you register with the existing supplier and give them your readings even if you are planning to switch. Then use a comparison site such as energyhelpline to find a good value provider.

However estimate your consumption in kWh(do not enter money in the comparison sites)

The average is 3,300kWh for electricity and 20,500kWh for gas.

If you have a small property and are out at work a lot you can drop the gas to, say 15,000kWh(unless it is an old badly insulated property.)

On-line accounts payment by Direct Debit are the cheapest.

What would one estimate the average electricity usage in Kwh is for a small flat with electric only (i.e. electric)?

Bcos there;s the figures for average elec and gas usage, but just wondering how that average gas converts into elec usage is uve only got elec for the heating and cooking!
