Hi, I am interested in investing some money in the us stock market such as Facebook, Apple, Google etc. I have read the brilliant guide in MSE about stock and share ISA and the most competitive platforms.
May I ask which is the best platform to but us stock?

Cavendish. Buy some technology fund that tracks them all instead of buying specific stocks. It's less risky and requires less money. e.g. just 1 share of Google costs about £500 but for £50 you could get a taste of all those companies and more.
If you insist on buying individual shares then you can't use Cavendish

What investments do you have already? Can you use the platform for your existing investments? What sort of amounts are you looking to invest?jerrycatlover wrote: »It's just an example of us stock, I don't meant to buy all those expensive shares.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

I've just used HL to purchase VNQ unwrapped. No custody or inactivity fees, no account balance criteria to meet. The trading commission isn't cheap at £11.95 and the FX charges aren't the most competitive but all other things considered it suits my requirements well. Completing the W-8BEN was painless.'We don't need to be smarter than the rest; we need to be more disciplined than the rest.' - WB0 -

I have been told the TD is the best for us stock due to its separate us dollar account to save the FX fee. However I also found IG has cheaper fees in general.
Any ideas which one is better?0 -
firstly buying US stocks will incur extra fees and you will be taxed on it by the IRS! I used to work for GE capital and when leaving transferred shares into my personal account, i suddenly started getting US tax claims so sold
Best to invest in a fund which gives you exposure to these companies, HL are the best imo. For shares e.g. FTSE, i use X-O0
