What do you mean "I keep sending apps for Barcodes ?"

Do you mean you keep seeing apps for bar codes ?

You can scan items with the apps eg for clicksnap, checkout smart.

Scan my business card to see my website or email me without having to type anything in.

What you're probably seeing is what is known as a QR (Quick Response) Code

    QR code
    nountrademark

noun: QR code; plural noun: QR codes
a machine-readable code consisting of an array of black and white squares, typically used for storing URLs or other information for reading by the camera on a smartphone.

It should have been " seeing" I wrote without glasses, sorry for confusion.

I sort of thought that if I were to scan an item, somehow it would be able to identify if it were cheaper elsewhere.

Might be able to do that, I've not tried it myself.

Yep, there are apps that'll do that. You can barcode scan and see if Amazon stock it, for instance.

Used to have an excellent barcode scanning app on my old Galaxy S2, but they did an update that was 100% US biased. No useful UK results after that.
