Looking for some advice......
I am looking into starting a small business (it will be very small initially as I work full time as well) and thinking the start will be advertising the service but also with a blog.
Ultimately it may also require the ability to have a sales/ordering element.
I'd need a domain name and hosting as well.
Any suggestions and recommendations for 'value for money', good service and reliability would be much appreciated.
Thanks

There are lots of different options out there... Self build, or built for you. What type of service/product are you looking to sell. An idea of your location too would be good.
Vidahost.com gets my vote each and every, and twice on a Sunday. Wouldn't go anywhere else!..
Give me a shout once you know what you're selling. Do you have a budget in mind0 -
Go for Ecommerce web hosting package , and there are many free ecommerce scripts like zencart cubcart magento OS commerce which you can use to sell online product. for hosting you can take a look at : https://www.webhost.uk.net/ecommerce-hosting.html reliable hosting we are using from many years.0

On the selling side I can recommend Kong easyCommerce -- trykong.com.
From their website:
"We have a vision: to make eCommerce, easyCommerce. Kong is for anyone who wants to sell online and we’ve made it free to use to make this a possibility for everyone. No monthly fees and no additional transaction fees, ever.
Unlimited products, storage and bandwidth
KongPay and the cheapest UK card rates
No additional transaction charges
Benefit from incredibly low shipping rates
Customisable, easy to style themes
Add custom domains
Powerful shipping profiles
Built in discount engine
Free for life!"
I'm getting a shop ready to open on Kong (selling vintage books), and like yourself it's just a side interest so I want as small an outlay as possible.
Having looked around for the best free eCommerce platform, I've not found anything for free which gives you the features that Kong does. For example, other sites I checked out didn't let you use your own domain name on their free account, for that you had to pay a monthly fee...
The only upfront cost I have is the yearly cost of my domain name (I got mine from 123-reg.co.uk, Kong recommend godaddy.com).
I'll be using a PayPal Business account for payments - so no monthly fees, only a per transaction fee (which works out a lot less than Ebay commission fees!).
All you would need to get is a domain name. Kong do provide you with a subdomain 'your-store.kong365.com' so a custom domain isn't a necessity, though definitely looks more professional.
No need to pay extra for hosting, as Kong do that for free.

Hi,
I specialise in web design and SEO.
You could try shopify for ecommerce? Most of the free web builders are a waster of time. You spend time making a site, then no one will find it.
We use Wordpress.org. It's free and quite good for SEO out of the box. You just need hosting and a domain name. It is a great base to expand from. And if your business takes off, then a professional web devoper can re design your current site, instead of making a new one.
We have made 100's from portfolio sites to £4million turnover sites on Wordpress.

Thanks DiscoDave
Definitely self build and it'll be a craft and funiture renovation/upholstery business - a bit generic but no specifics as yet. I'm in Central England.
Budget - minimal initially as its a shot in the dark really!
Cheers
