CCJ nightmare!

My other half has a CCJ that was registered in 2011. He lived in rented accommodation and the letters never caught up with him. He is now trying to rent a flat and this CCJ has shown up on his credit file. The letting a agent advised him to pay in full and get a certificate of completion and herein lies the issue.
He paid the CCJ in full and the solicitor confirmed that they have sent confirmation to the court. The court are saying they have no record of this and will not issue the certificate. The solicitor will not resend confirmation and the court will not help in anyway to try and resolve the issue.
He will lost the flat next week if he doesn't get this resolved and I hoped someone on this forum could give us some advice.

Why will the solicitor not resupply confirmation? He is the only one who can fix this.0

How did he pay the solicitor? If the answer is "cash" then I imagine that what he paid toward the CCJ is now gone with the wind. Otherwise he should have received confirmation from the lawyer after making the payment, did he never got it or did he lose it?0

He paid by card but the court state they need confirmation from the solicitors0

And answer to my second question? Did he never receive it or did he lose it?0

He is waiting for his receipt in the post which should arrive today or tomorrow0
