Optima 2 Plus House Alarm

Hi
Recently changed bell box and panel battery on above alarm, 25 years old approximately.
Seemed ok but Zone 3 within the property (lounge) is activating the alarm randomly.
It occurs when the alarm is not activated.
Various times of the day.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Presume it is a PIR, if so it could be faulty. Is it the main alarm that indicates or tamper alarm?

    Hi
It occurs when the alarm is not activated.
    Various times of the day..

Is it the ATTACK or the TAMPER light that shows up on the panel when its activated?
  • I rent the property so unfortunately not there when this is happening.
It is a PIR, excuse my ignorance re attack or tamper etc
Number 3 appears on keypad and the main alarm sounds but alarm not set at time.
Apparently when alarm was set while the tenants on holiday recently alarm was ok?
Pretty sure the tamper light does not come on so assume it is the main alarm because the zone number 3 displays.
I have asked the tenants to send me a pic of keypad which they have done by email if this helps.

Yes, a picture taken at the time the alarm sounds would be good.
  • Been sent a pic and all 3 lights are lit including tamper and the number 3.
Not sure how to attach pic to this message though?

If a tamper light is lit, that is a clue. I recently had a situation where a neighbours tamper light was being lit (with accompanying alarm) when they were in and alarm not set. Because the tamper switches in all the PIR's were connected in series it was impossible to determine which one it was. At least you know yours is zone 3. I had to sequentially short out each tamper switch in turn until the culprit was found. I then procured a new PIR, changed it and no further problems.
  • So change the PIR for zone 3 in my case. Then see if it resolves problem? I was thinking a Texecom based on what other people online have said do you have any suggestions and best place to buy from.
    Thanks

I do not have any particular PIR's to recommend. When I fixed my neighbours, I replaced like for like - it was a Honeywell ls215t and I bought direct.
  • Appreciate your time. Thanks
