Some areas the tests do have to be booked weeks or months in advance I know in my local one it can be a minimum of three weeks depending on time of year a friend booked hers last week and the earliest available was mid September so just under three months from booking date. School holidays tend to get hooked up quickly due to the number of students taking the test before going back to school or heading off to college or uni.
I would say that the messages you sent them are poorly worded, saying you want it within a week but not the 13th which is already outside the week why didn't you just put between say 1st-7th July or the dates for your chosen week?
Also your second message could easily be misread as either before 13th July or after 30th July rather than before 30th July except on 13th.0 -
can you not do the 10 lessons to get you up to test standard (assuming you have already had some lessons before) and have the test rebooked to a test centre where you are moving to?0

In our area, it is usually a couple of months minimum with driving test availability, however there can sometimes be last minute cancellations for the following week and you might be lucky enough to get one of those, if you check often.
I would agree that your best option may be doing the lessons and keep checking for a cancellation date and see if you can get an earlier test date.

Special thanks to unholyangel, after wiritng the letter manager called back and offered a refund with a admin cost deducted however it was less than going to small claims. So worth taking that majority of money returned and I guess I learned a valuable lesson of reading t&c and paying after.0

Glad you got a satisfactory result and thanks for coming back to update us on the outcome! You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
