in Credit cards
Hello,
I have just applied for a Sainsbury's Credit Card and after completing all the info, I got a message saying they will inform me of the outcome of my application within 5-10 days!! What the heck?
I want to shift the balance from my Tesco Card to the Sainsbury's card for no other reason than that I have moved close to a Tesco and they will now be my main supermarket so I want to use the Tesco card for all my monthly shopping and pay the whole balance off every month (you know, getting a few extra clubcard points). The balance I want to shift to Sainsbury's is my car and home insurance which I paid in a lump sum on the Tesco card and am now paying off in monthly installments to the credit card, thus saving a bit on interest.
Is it normal for an application to take that long? Is it because I want to shift the £1500? I have never done a balance transfer as I have no debts and have always paid my credit card off every month (apart from this Tesco one which I have since early this year).

I was approved immediately online and told an estimate credit limit which turned out to be the actual credit limit. I had to wait about two weeks on the card after this so be prepared for a slow process.0

Nope. I didn't get an outcome or estimated credit limit. It just said they would let me know in 10 days.0

I had that when I was new in country (under 3 years) and with not so thick credit history (primarily because of the short living history) so while my application looked good as I have very good income and the accounts I have are well maintained, they didn't auto approve it (I guess they needed a person to look over all this and make the call). As a result after about 6 days I got tesco card in the mail.
But of course it could also lead to rejection, you will find out in couple days time.0 -
Maybe. Just seems odd that with our combined income, they even need to consider it. So I think it must be the balance transfer that makes them think twice.0

It can be any number of things, for example discrepancy between this application and application at other place because of changed circumstances.0
