This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

?? Where is everyone this morning lol!
Hi all,
I am back from York. Had a nice time wandering about taking in the sights and shops. I was quite restrained in that I didn't go too mad with the shopping. Managed to get a dress for BILs wedding within two hours of being there, and it was in the sale. Also got s few bits for DS1 and DD to put away for Christmas.
Not sure I feel all that rested tbh. I did think about work a lot as it was me alone with my thoughts. It is slightly odd having no one to talk to for a few days (apart from staff in shops and the hotel of course) so I ended up writing stuff down which helped.
Back to the routine this morning. DD and DS2 have just left for school and I'm at the church this morning. I've booked a gym class for this afternoon. Can't go tomorrow morning as I'm in London with the charity at an Expo. Hoping for good weather although we are in a marquee in Hyde Park.
Washing and zone one cleaning to be done today. Also need to meal plan for the week.
Hope all are well

Good Morning everyone, what a gorgeous morning it is as well the sun is shining and the sky is blue a great start to the week.
Hope it carries on for you Coxy11 and it keeps dry for tomorrow for you.
I am just about to have a coffee boost to kick start my engine this morning I have not only my healthy living walk this morning, I am also stepping up my walking a bit, ready for this Saturday.
DD bought pink tu-tu's for us to wear round our waists and luckily mine was too small:):) so when I got home last night I gave it to my next door neighbour for her 5 year old and she ,bless her made a donation to this weeks Race for Life what I call win-win for us both
Still I have my pink transfers to go on our faces and a shockingly bright pink tee shirt.Hopefully the weather will be good.I also have to make around 4-5 dozen sausage rolls on Saturday for my son-in-laws 50th party on Sunday so fingers crossed I won't be too worn out,but at least at a push I can sit on a stool in the kitchen to make those
All go in my world this week.
Today would have been my eldest brother Johns birthday so I will try to get to St Margaret's bay where his ashes were scattered at some point today.can't believe its 14 years already.Next week I shall be going to my middle brother Davey's ashes interment in London with his memorial service.I am the last one left and its an odd feeling, but I was always 'tail-end charlie' when I was little;)
Hope you all have a good day whatever you are doing
Cheers chums

Morning Coxy and all to follow. Glad you enjoyed your weekend away.
Just been pegging the washing out and it feels so much warmer now that horrendous wind has dropped. Yesterday Mr TA decided we should attack our side of the much neglected and overgrown conifers which next door have let go to pot. The previous owners planted them but they did at least keep them in shape both on their own side and theirs. Not so these people. They look a total and utter mess. They surround their garden but, fortunately, they are "just" up the side of our drive and path round to the back. I hate conifers! We were dusty, filthy, windswept and shattered by the time we had finished.
DGD should be on her way to Germany by now. DD had to drop her at school at 5.30 this morning to board the coach. I don't envy that poor driver taking a coachload of hyper 11 and 12 year olds all the way to Germany! We'll be worrying all week until she is safely home again.
It's sports day at the younger 2 DGDs school this morning so we said we would be there to cheer them on. It starts at 10.00 and the weather looks promising!
Have a good day all (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed and take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone.
Thanks for the thread Coxy - and your trip to York sounds good.
I was awake at 4am but soon nodded off again. Woke now to dull but dry weather.
I'm going into town shortly to post off a wee box with two strawberries for my Mum. Typically, they weren't ready when I left on Thursday and would be on the turn by this Friday when I go down again.
This afternoon I've got my ENT appointment, need to sort out this sinus problem once and for all. It's been going on for at least five years with intermittent ABs.
I've got loads of berries, avocados and salad to have this week. Freezer will be raided for meat.
TA - I'm sure your DGD will enjoy Germany.
Happy Monday everyone.0 -
Goooooood morning one and all. Hope you all had a nice weekend.
I had a nice weekend spent with various friends and I helped out a friend who is starting up his own gym, so lots of unpacking and setting up machines.
I was absolutely shattered this morning so, like you JackieO, I need my coffee to get me going.
After work today I've got badminton with my GF, Mum and stepdad. Always a good laugh so I'm looking forward to it.
Gers - Hope your appointment goes ok today.
TA - Germany is a lovely place and I'm sure the kids will love it.
JackieO - Thinking of you today0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
It's quite a sunny morning here today. I have all the girls home as the younger two have an orthodontist appointment in a little while. Needless to say they are all still in bed so I will be shouting up the stairs when I've finished writing this.
Hubby says he feels much better and has toddled off to work quite happily. He still hasn't heard about his new job so hopefully he will hear one way or the other this week.
I am going to ring my friend in a bit to see if she has time for a coffee with me. I know she had a very busy weekend decorating both bedrooms in her house and swapping her girls beds etc round.
Tea tonight is going to be chicken and leek pie, new potatoes and peas. I will make the filling for it in a minute then all I have to do tonight is put on a pastry lid and bake it.
I hear movement upstairs so I will disappear for a bit. Hope you all have a lovely day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Good morning everyone . Another lovely sunny day here and two wash loads are dancing on the lines . I woke with the sun rise and have managed to catch up on a lot of things neglected during the past few weeks .
Thank you Coxy for the thread . I hope the weather behaves itself tomorrow for you .
Gers I think a little box with 2 strawberries is a lovely gift . Hoping all goes well at ENT . As a life long sinus sufferer I really feel for you . It pulls you down so much so I hope something gets sorted .
TA Good to see you are both doing well . When I moved here in the mid seventies I thought it a brilliant idea to surround the garden with conifers ! The 3ft high babies soon grew and grew . The children loved them but I was forever getting sap out of their hair and clothes as they made dens in them . I finally took them out about 15 years ago and it was a dirty horrible job . I must have gained another 10ft all around the garden . I already had lots of evergreen flowering shrubs to replace them and the birds were quite happy to move into them .
Jackie I hope the sun keeps shining for you as you go to remember John . I did have a giggle about the tutu .
Have a good evening Speky you seem to have so much energy - oh to be young again .
Well I need to do meal planning and bills for July , something else I didn't do at the end of June .
Hugs to any who need and have a good day all . My beloved Roger is on centre court at 1pm so I will crack on and settle down then to watch .

Morning all,
Had a lovely lay in this morning, must have needed it dd has the day off too so we are having a lazy morning, dd has a driving lesson at lunch time and I need to pop to the shop.
OH did most of the housework yesterday so not much to do today I will have a quick tidy round and hoover through, I have a wash on the go which can go on the line today.
I really fancy lamb chops for dinner so think I will get some from the butcher in the next village.
Have good days all xx0 -
Afternoon folks, ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one. Two loads of washing done and a third in the machine, I am hoping to get it all dry.Have also done the Monday clean.
OH has cleaned up the old mower, I have put it on Gumtree, if it does not sell I will put it on freecycle. I still have not sorted the new one yet, will do it this afternoon afetr OH gets up from his siesta.
I am having real problems with my right hip and knee, will have to visit the medical man see what he has to say. If I sit down for a while and then get up it takes me a couple of goes to get going.
Mobile library here this afternoon, so more new books between the mobile and the Bingham library we manage ok for reading, jusy odd times we run out of reading matter.
Spag bol tonight..........0 -
Just back from St Margarets Bay, I usually throw a half pint of guiness into the sea in memory of my brother who loved to go there and slowly drink his pint while watching the sea:)
Healthy Living walk was good this morning, and we had two new ladies join.
Nice easy dinner tonight DD gave me some left over bits last night to take home so I only have gravy to make up, as I have some slices of roast lamb, roast spuds, broccoli, carrots and even a yorkshire pud which will all go into my remoska for heating through.pudding will be diced up apple with some natural yogurt.virtually a 'no cooking day ' as I had some HM soup for lunch with crackers and philly cheese.
Just waiting for the boys to come in from school a quick snack for them and feet up with the tennis until either DD or my son-in-lawl come in from work
gorgeous sunny day here in Kent for once:):) hope everyone is making the most of it
