Dfs bed credit help!!!!

Hi. I applied for credit on my dfs order for a double bed on their website on the 28th June. I have been told today I have been rejected for finance. But now as I read into it I am seeing that they can still make you pay for it even if you get rejected. Am I entitled to a cooling off period if it was just a standard bed I ordered and it was online? It was less than a week ago. Help!! :(

Did you get a contract or terms and conditions whether in the post or by email ?

You are not going to be made to pay for it. The contract was arranged in such a way that you wish to pay with finance. That is no longer an option so the contract is no longer in place.

The furniture will not yet have started the manufacturing process since the order is only released to the supplier once the finance is accepted or if there is a 10% deposit on the order.

They will however still call you to see if you have other options of payment. If you do, great, if you don't then tell them as such. They shouldn't lie to you and make you feel like you have to pay it but then there are always a few bad apples.

However they will not force you, the money can't be taken out of your account.

Are you sure this is true? I've no idea myself but I have seen other threads on here where this scenario has happened and DFS have insisted that the contract is still valid and the money is owed.

I'm not sure that's true either. Finance is just another method of payment and separate to the contract to supply the bed.

However, as you ordered the bed online OP it'll be classed as a distance sale and therefore you should be able to cancel it under the terms of the Consumer Contracts Regulations (CCRs).

Further to this OP make sure you say that you only viewed the bed on the website. If you went instore to look at it first then that means you can't cancel under CCR. So if you did do that then don't tell them you did!

I worked there for 4 years so I have a first hand experience of it. Your finance applications is sent to three different companies if they all decline the order gets "Cancelled off the screen" and passed to the sales person to try to "Save" it.

If the order cannot be saved i.e the customer doesn't answer their phone or simply doesn't have the money then the order is cancelled off as reason 15 - declined for finance.
