Car Purchase from Hell

in Credit cards
Afternoon Forum
Last August 2015 I purchased a used car from a dealer. The car was paid for using 5 different Credit cards which I then transferred to 2 other Credit cards to utilise the Interest free balance transfer offer.
Since my purchase I have had problems with this car where it does not always start first time instead it cranks over and over again. Some times it starts first time whereas other times I'm it doesn't turn over until the 6th or 7th time. I went back to the dealer who sent me to many different people in his network to try and sort this. He did pay for the work but it never got resolved. It's not coming up to a year (still within a year of puechase) and his tone has changed and he now expects me to pay to diagnose this issue and get it sorted.
I only bought it on credit cards as I remember Martins article that it offers more protection however I don't know what to do now. The only issue I have is the dealer won't accept that it's a fault as there are no fault codes being displayed on the dash, however it does it every day and I have spent £000's to try and resolve it. I don't have any more disposable income to rectify this any more.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

How old is the car - the mileage - how long was the warranty - you say the dealer has sent you to different people to sort but you have also spent £000's - why?0

The car is 2008 the warranty was 3 months. I advised the dealer during my warranty period to take it to Jag however he wanted me to use his contacts.0

Has anyone tried swapping out the air filter? I ask this only as we had a problem with similar symptoms and that is what it turned out to be.0

So the car is out of warranty - you can't be serious about wanting to claim on your credit card for this.
If you are then you are going to have to get a professional report on the car stating the fault was on the car when you bought it.
Then you will have to write/contact all of the credit cards that you used for the purchase and tell them that you want to claim under s 75 pro rata whatever % of the purchase price paid.0 -
I have completed a major service on the car. I have had 2 Independent jaguar garages and a diesel specialist have a look at it. They cannot figure out what is wrong with it. They have all suggested taking it back to Jag however the costs for diagnostic goes into the £00's0

Have you/they checked the air intake shutoff valve? On some cars, these can cause problems and they get stuck shut thereby cutting of the air supply to the engine. A few turnovers eventually shakes it open and the car starts again.0

I take it this is a 2.2d jag? Problem sounds to me from what you are saying that it could possibly be the EGR valve (exhaust gas recircullation) have a Google about self removal and cleaning.
I have had to remove and clean 2 on different diesel cars that I have owned and as long as you have a few hand tools it's quite a cheap and easy fix.0 -
You can get big cars fairly cheaply as they get older, but the snag for people running them is that they still have big car running costs.
I don't see very much in the way of remedy for you I'm afraid. It sounds like the dealer has been quite reasonable in trying to resolve the situation.0
