Mobile phone insurance

I'm considering getting mobile phone insurance but all I'm really seeing are the horror stories. Has anyone had a good experience in terms of the claims process with one of these companies?

I'm considering protect your bubble and gadget cover.

Just buy a good cover and screen protector, like a speck. Put the insurance money away each month and self insure. My family all have Apple refurb iPhones - they cost a couple of hundred pounds each and do what we need them to do! Mr BD's has been dropped on building sites, DD's has been dropped several times in the stable yard and mine rolls round in my handbag! All still work and hundreds of pounds saved in premiums!

I know what you mean and everything is telling me not to get it but my phone is currently being repaired under warranty and it's going to take 2 weeks. It's made me realise that if anything happens to my phone I really don't want to be without it that long.

Considered personal belongings cover as part of a home insurance policy? May work out a lot better value.

I rent so don't have home insurance. I don't really mind the cost it's just picking the best company to go with really.

I meant as in contents only cover which if you are renting is the only home insurance you can buy anyway? Unless someone else is responsible for arranging that?

My thoughts are that a well known big insurer like direct line or legal and general may be more likely to be better to deal with in the event of a claim. Like you say you are seeing horror stories.

If it works out cheaper than just phone insurance on its own and you've got more possessions covered it's smiles all round.

Hi, Have you thought of a packaged bank account that includes mobile cover?
I have a Natwest account, but most of the big banks have these accounts. Mine includes worldwide travel insurance & car breakdown cover aswell as the mobile cover.
We got our account for the travel & breakdown cover and as its a joint account it covers us both for £18 per month.

I'll look in to contents insurance, never really considered it before. As for a packaged account that could work as I already pay for breakdown cover separately. I'm with santander and they don't do anything like that so I would have to switch banks though.
