Cctv advice

We live in a 2 storey block of apartments and we have underground secure parking for one car but having 2 cars I park mine on the side street. There has been some suspicious activity recently where the already installed cctv cameras have had towels thrown over them. One of our windows looks directly over where I park so I am thinking of buying cctv to set up (there are already signs saying cctv in operation, so I think I'm covered for that) can anyone recommend a decent kit that will be able to record clear images at night at up to 20m distance, don't need a massive hdd as I'll delete each day. Don't really wanna spend more than £100. We have a Motorola wifi camera that we use as a baby monitor but I know you have to pay a monthly charge for these to record video and he quality isn't great on the dark at a fair distance. We also have a western digital my cloud NAS if anyone knows and option of hooking a camera directly up to this to record?

Many thanks

Danny

might be easier and cheaper to put a smooth plastic cover over the existing camera so anything thrown over cam slides off?

Unless you put whatever camera you decide to get on the outside wall it won't work at night. Window glass reflects the IR leds and all you see is a white out.

Suppose you get crystal clear footage of some criminal damage to your car what are you planning to do with it. I have some cameras and a neighbours car was damaged. He asked me to find and give hime the video which I did and he reported the issue to the police who did nothing about it. Admittedly it would be hard to identify the culprits unless known to the viewer but I doubt the police would investigate in any case.

Ah thanks I didn't know that about ir being reflected by glass :(

It's a pretty awful society we live in when you do most of the work for the police and they still don't follow it up. I'll give my insurance company a ring first and see if they would waive my excess and loss of ncb if I have evidence of someone else damaging my car like they do for uninsured drivers crashing into me

I have an indoor camera pointing out through a window.I've covered the IR leds so it doesn't reflect off the glass at night.Luckily I have an outside light and a street lamp nearby.Even so between the hours of 11pm and 5am ish it's pretty hard to make out what's going on
