Good morning everyone . I have been missing in action since the first week in June so have just scanned through the last couple of days .
Sending thoughts and a very gentle hug to Hilstep - take care of yourself you are such a strong lady .
I was so happy to read Lyns news , you will be kept busy . All good wishes to your daughter and all the family . x
I hope all is well with the TAs and Candlelights .
Lovely to see Elona is finally seeing things coming together .
I imagine Lame Wolf is probably recovering from her holiday . Nice as it is it can be draining and exhausting - take care x
Judi I think you have the patience of a saint ! I would have gone ballistic .
I have been having a really strange few weeks . Youngest has picked up infection after infection and kindly passed them on to me .We have been at the doctors every week as he has to keep a close eye on her . It seems that sitting in so many waiting rooms she is just picking up everything going . The annoying thing is we have not done anything nice for the last few months and were hoping to enjoy a bit of summer before winter is back . We are at the Liverpool hospital in just over a week to see her consultant so please cross your fingers she remains on the drug . We know it has wiped out her immune system but she feels the benefits are worth it
Today will be a quiet day in an attempt to gather some energy again
Wishing you all the best day you can have .

    Morning everyone,

Dry, bright and sunny here, feels much warmer as the wind has dropped, fingers crossed it's going to be a sunny Sunday.

Ah Dumpling, glad you enjoyed your DD's hen night, another vote here for proper plates please, I don't like the thought of wooden platters hygiene wise.
Lazy start to the morning so far, already have had one cuppa and large pot of coffee is next on the menu along with a bacon buttie, then it's the Archers before popping out to the shops to pick up a few bits. Must admit am struggling without my trusty freezer, makes you realise how much we rely on them to be frugal with our shopping?
WIll pop over to see Mum this afternoon, she was treated to a afternoon tea yesterday by her friend whose birthday it was so will hear all about that, want to do a bit of tidying in her garden as well.

Hi Judi  glad to see you posting and yes, do think you have been very restrained re the sofa, hate to think what my Dad would have done if he had come home to that!

Love to all, have a good day everyone x
  • Afternoon, where did the morning go???? ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Congrats to Lynn, a new baby expected, lovely......Hilstep sorry to hear that you are not so well. Well done Dumpling.

Stripped the bed, its out on the line. Then tipped out the containers that had bulbs in, the bulbs are in the small grow house, drying off, plant to replant them in the back garden in the spring. Washed out the containers. OH has finished weeding the herbaceous border for me. I am having big problems with my right hip and leg. Think its going to be a visit to the Drs. I know he is going to tell me its arthritis, but I could do with some stronger pain killers.

Have prepped the supper just got to cook it, pork chops and roasties done in the remoska. Carrots, cauli and peas with gravy.......we have just had cold croque monsieur, slice of ham topped with cheese in a sandwich.

OH has gone for his siesta......I am going to read.

Hi everyone, mixed bag of weather here, something of everything today but not wet at the moment, just gearing up to walk Cookie and hoping we don't get rained on like we did yesterday!

Nice morning today, we tried a couple of years ago to plant up a willow house for Zebra but only five of the willow strips have survived so we're making a big bamboo wigwam and have been to the local garden centres for climbers to green it up. Found a lovely evergreen clematis, a Japanese honeysuckle and a tracheospermum jasminoides all of which have fragrant flowers and a neighbour gave me some summer jasmine roots which have rooted and grown on so we'll use new bamboo canes for a framework and plant up the outside later on today. He Who Knows has suggested planting tall ornamental grasses in a ring round the tepee to fill any gaps, brill idea and hopefully it will give Zebra a den!!!

Have yourselves a nice afternoon everyone, Lyn xxx.

Afternoon - I reverted to Plan A and did a white washing as the rain cleared up. Ten minutes after I hung it out the rain came back.

I also managed to get the back lawn cut during the dry spell as I wanted to throw on some feed and it can't be cut for 10 days afterwards. As I'm away next week I hope to come home to find a lush moss-free and green lawn.

Washing now drying for the second time, at least it's blustery so hopefully the wind will do the trick before the next bout of rain.

Csarina- your climbers sound lovely. I planted a clematis and a Virginia Creeper earlier this spring. The clematis is now spreading and clinging to the wall whilst the VC is still going 'bushy'. I'm going back out to do more nails in the wall and string thing to try to train it properly - trouble is that the garden is very windy despite it being totally enclosed by walls.

Been for a walk too, inbetween showers, and had left-over mince for lunch with a pudding of fresh cherries. They are in season for such a short time so, for me, they are worth the indulgence.

Now going to sit down and have a cup of tea before doing lawn feeding,

Lyn: watch the summer Jasmine, it can be an absolute thug. If you don't keep it severely under control Zebra won't have a den, he'll have The New Forest. That sweet, delicate fragrance that delights your senses in small doses can very quickly become so overpowering that it begins to smell like dirty nappies.

Just warning you. I have been in mortal combat with a Jasmine hedge myself.

  • I'll be brutal with it, hopefully it will be the back wall and screen from the neighbours garden. I'll make sure to give it a crew cut once in a while, thanks for the info xxx.
