Halifax clarity card

Just back from America and used clarity card to withdraw money. Withdrew. 700 dollars on 23rd and again 700 dollars on 24th June. Checked rate before withdrawal and showing as 1.49. Checked online banking and both transactions showed. One on 23rd showed £475.25 and one on 24th showed £475.75. I logged in to online banking daily and still showed these amounts. When I logged in on 27th to make a payment both transaction amounts were changed to £511.25. Surely this can't be right. Any information or help on this please

A possibility is that the original amounts were provisional and used in authorising the transactions.

When the transactions were actually put through the exchange rate had moved against you

That - or some variant - is almost certainly what happened. A repercussion of the referendum

Whether it's right or not - pass. It's probably covered somewhere in the T&C

The final rate used is that on the date of settlement, usually a couple of days after the actual transaction. In your case the intervening Brexit vote caused the GBP value to plummet, hence the difference.

Shouldn't this board be discontinued? It's the first time I looked here, and there are several threads posted by mistake that are mostly unseen...
