Barclaycard rewards

After much consideration i have decided to apply for my first CC to start building credit history and the Barclaycard reward came on top of the shortlist. According to noddle the acceptance chance is 90%. My questions are - apart from the usual stuff you can read online (e.g. always pay off in full each month, don't go over the limit etc), for credit score sake does it matter how exactly you pay? I.e. does direct debit give more confidence in the person's commitment to pay, or manual payments are fine? Also, if paying manually, does it matter whether you do it on the same date each month, is this information even recorded?

Also, i decided to go for HSBC Advance account while the switching incentive is still available. If i fill in both this application form and CC in parallel, is there a chance that the credit agencies won't have updated the search info so fast so that the second search will not see the first one?

Doesn't make any difference how you pay.

If you make two applications very close together then it's probable that one application isn't affect the other, no guarantees though.

So, apart from credit limit, monthly spend and whether you have paid it off on time, no other information is made available to the credit reference agencies?

The amount of the cardholder's payments is reported.
Credit reports include entries for reporting the monthly number and total of any cash advances, so presumably information on cash advances is also reported to credit reference agencies.
