Mid Kent Water plumbing and drainage insurance

I have been going through my mothers finances and discovered she has the above insurance policy that covers a plumbing, drainage or water supply pipe emergency.
I have not come accross this before and wonderd if anyone had experience of this type of policy or any thoughts about it?
She has a buildings insurance policy with The Halifax and I would have thought this would cover such disasters. She also has contents insurance with Pearl.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Does she have private drainage at the property - or is she connected to the public sewer/drain?Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac

Hi DFC,
The property is connected to the public sewer/drain.
Thanks,

OK - then the contract which mum has is really only for the drains on her property, which lead up to the sewer. I would have thought there was some duplication with buildings insurance, but you would need to compare the features of each - not as bad as it sounds, as you only need look at a small part of the buildings policy.
Look carefully at the wording of the drains contract - what, exactly, are they promising to do?Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac

OK - Wht I will do is phone The Halifax and specifically ask the point that you have made.
With either of the policies I know hey won't pay for wear and tear (as I suppose is true of most policies if not all).
I'll let you know what find out.
Cheers!0 -
Hi DFC,
Just to let you know how things haver moved forward.
I identified the key aspects of the Mid Kent policy and phoned The Halifax and asked them directly if they provided the same cover through the buildings insurance. There was only one area that differed slightly, however by then the decision was made!
The Mid Kent policy has been cancelled with a saving o £95.00!!
Thank you so much for your help with this (and mum says thanks too), it is very much appreciated.
