We have made a claim against Lloyds on s previous mortgage. They will not process because we can't provide an account number and they can't find it in their records. Can I take this to the ombudsmen?

The Ombudsman won't be able to magic up records which no longer exist, I'm afraid.
If you doubt the Bank, you can pay £10 for a Subject Access Request (SAR) which will net you everything they have kept on file for you. Since this is only likely to confirm what you have already been told, it's your choice whether to gamble the money.
Otherwise, if you can't find any documentation in your own archive, your complaint is over before it's begun.0 -
What you are saying to us is that you have no evidence that you were missold mortgage PPI.
This is inhibited by the fact that you cannot prove it was sold by the bank.
You cannot prove it was missold by the bank because you cannot prove the bank actually sold it.
You cannot prove the bank actually sold it because you cannot prove the mortgage PPI ever existed.
You cannot prove the mortgage PPI ever existed because you cannot prove the mortgage it was sold with ever existed.
A lot of hurdles in your way there.0
