Premier Parking Solutions, Keaton Road Ivybridge, help please

I'd really appreciate any advice.
My 70 year old mother parked in the keaton road car park in ivybridge devon and has been issued a £100 parking charge notice from premier parking solutions ltd.
She purchased a ticket covering the time she parked, however the ticket has the first letter of her registration missing. The ticket says 123 xyz rather than a123 xyz for example. She claims that this was due to the letter not being recorded correctly by the ticket machine.
Their car park has an APNR camera and there are pictures clearly showing her vehicle entering the car park.
My mother has already corresponded with Premier Parking Solutions saying she was the driver and sent a copy of her ticket. I now understand this may not have been the right thing to do.
She is appealing using the IAS.
She has a ticket, showing she has paid to park, the parking company are not out of pocket. A character is missing from the registration but the other 6 characters are correct, it is obviously a ticket for her car. Common sense would think this would be ok.
What should she say in her appeal? Any advice would be really appreciated.
thanks

If you read up on ias appeals in the newbies FAQ thread you will see it's not worth worrying too much as any appeal will be rejected
If this is a retail car park she could get any retailer she went to to assist her get this stopped or alternatively contact the landowner.
Otherwise wait it out and see if they go to court. In which case come back for help on a defence0 -
There have been similar threads where the first letter is missing. Apparently when you press the first letter a further instruction screen appears momentarily, triggered by the press of the button, but most fail to spot this, continuing to input the remainder of their VRM.
If I recall the letter 'S' has been mentioned more than once. Is the first letter of your mother's VRM the letter 'S'?
Do a forum search on 'Premier Parking Solutions' and I'm sure you'll come across the cases.
Appeal to PPS as per the newbies FAQ sticky, post #1 (using the IPC appeal template). Whether you (your mother) appeal further to the IAS, consider the pros and cons linked and outlined in post #3 of the same sticky.
Is this a car park attached to a retail park? Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

Thanks for the quick responses.
The first letter of the VRM is a K.
It is a small car park in the town centre, not attached to a retail park.
I am going to go and video the machine in action tomorrow to see about the first keypress not being recorded.
My mother has already appealed to PPS and is in process with the IAS, unfortunately she hasn't used the templates.
It sounds like we will have to wait for the likely failure of the IAS appeal and see what happens next.

She is appealing using the IAS.
This is what goes wrong, it is a known fault with their keypad system, see what pulpotim says here:

I suggest you stop her appealing to the IAS. She'll lose, she'll lose and she'll lose, no matter what she says. She will then panic and want to pay. Video is a very good idea as proof. But I still think the IAS will say 'tought, she should have noticed'.
We are not telling you to tell her to pay. Just warning against IAS.

After a bit of a delay I've mananged to get round to visiting the car park and filming the parking meter. There is a clear design fault, the first key pressed is not recorded. I wonder how many parking tickets are being issued because of this design feature/fault!?
You can watch the video here:

As my mother has started the appeal process I will send them this video. From what people expect about it being a kangaroo court I don't have high hopes. I am more that happy to show this video in court as a next step....0 -
Actually it would be VERY interesting if the IAS reject the appeal when shown that evidence, but I still think they will say 'the responsibility rests with the driver to ensure that the VRN is fully recorded...'!!
So glad to hear you are sending this to Trading Standards - what about the local paper, to publicise it and warn locals about the scam?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Unfortunately due to unforseen circumstances I was unable to respond to the appeal in time. The IAS won't let me add anything to the appeal despite me asking just a few hours after the deadline.
I guess I just wait for the appeal to be rejected, then what?
Should I write to PPS with the video evidence and state something that I don't want the to incur unnecessary costs and I will see them in court??0 -
Yes, or wait for their next threatogram which will arrive soon, then respond in that way. Then sit tight.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
