I can't change life assurance provider?

I feel stupid having bought the policy from him as most things i've read say not to buy it from the mortgage broker.
That is not a fair analysis. There are some mortgage brokers who you shouldnt be insurance from. Mainly, those tied to one provider or a limited panel. Most estate agent brokers (who you shouldnt use full stop - unless it is a small local independent). However, there is no reason to eliminate independent advisers. Its £200 per year more than equivalent policies I've seen.
Whilst you expect some difference, that is a lot based on the premiums you have mentioned and possibly indicates either
1 - not like for like cover
2 - the broker is tied to an insurer or limited panel. Is there any point in contacting Aviva and asking them what they might 'claw back' from a broker?
They will claw back 100% of what was shown the illustration given to you. Aviva are not party to the contract you have with the broker.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
