I used to be a coin collector but not really bothered for years, so for me this was interesting.

I'd have thought that there could be a market in repro coins, I know there are some about. I always find it depressing that some would rather sell breaking the law than use a little imagination and be successful legally.

As said with 3D printing and other technology pretty much anything can be copied. Sellers who want to do so could just check high priced items that have just sold.

If I had the inclination I just thought of about half a dozen legal possibilities.
It's the main reason the pound coin is changing, although the way sterling has been this past week it will probably cost more to get a fake one knocked up anyway.
