    *sigh*

    OK > for your benefit:

"claiming esa you can expect to wait INDEFINATELY according to anecdotes and in my experience"

to recieve your esa50, to hear back for your esa50, to be called in for an interview, to appeal, to await desicions and to obtain details of your tribunal AND then you have to wait indefinately more

1-8 indefinate, with a 5-14 week (on average anecdotally, and speculatory the little compiling i have done) wait potentially for each step,

    better ?

there's no need splitting hairs about speculation <

I don't disagree with your post, but OP was asking specifically about how long they would wait following a medical assessment for the outcome.

Nothing to do with ESA50 or appealing.

I didn't agree with your answers in the context of OPs question. "Some people wait a year" is true of the claim process, not I feel the time between assessment and result. Which after all is what the OP asked.

    yes i did, SEE ABOVE

"yes it can take weeks :( "

then i went on to speculate, as if the OP is anything like me, then a random ballpark figure is nice, when you are waiting indefinately.... helps pass the time.

then as speculated about a time frame, i suggested the year, incase someone was thinking "oh great not long now".... if they had to wait on potentially (for up to an in excess of a year, anectodally)

"don't get your hopes up though"

you are not the OP ? so cannot know what information they want to yield.

you have not answered their question ? (you also underestimated)

but you have tried to debate speculation, pick little bits of text to disagree with etc ? 2x < how is that helpful (to anyone) ???

    benefitsandwork quotes:

1 in 3 ESA claimants waiting more than 8 months for a decision

Figures released last week prove that the employment and support allowance assessment system is on the verge of complete collapse. The latest quarterly statistics show that just 28% of claims made between nine and twelve months ago have been assessed. The majority of claimants either get better before the DWP gets round to assessing them or are still waiting up to a year later to have their work capability assessment (WCA).

    /\ there you go,

    > can i ask how long you had to wait from sending off your letter to your assessment please ?

Hi, I waited about 9 weeks from sending in the form to receiving an appointment for medical which will be in a few weeks. Hth

If I have to wait long for a decision I may well have reached retirement.

If you have reached retirement age before being called in for assessment, and you have time on your hands, you might want to attend anyway. Then, at the end you could ask what the point is in calling you in when the claim has ended. You could waste their time in the same way they wasted yours.

    Just a suggestion. :D

you know if say, they say the OP is fit for work (or wanted to debate grouping etc), after they get the result (potentially when retired)

would the OP still be entitled to back-payment though etc > if they took it to tribunal to debate the "being fit for work" etc (despite being retired at that point) ?

    thanks

Very good questions Bananas123 and I haven't any idea what the answers are. My guess would be that, if it hadn't been realised before that point that there wasn't actually a valid claim due to reaching retirement age, they would suddenly notice!

one may hope, like you claim for timeframe vs being sick for >

that the claim would be for that period ? (thus retirement / foreward of not relavant ?) > so the gap between the esa claim (if recieving less benefit then eligable for) to "retirement date" should be back-paid, no ?.

if in theory was to happen ?.

when i was at tribunal they said/hinted of evaluating as if at the time of sending your esa50 or something i think, but not sure (don't think i made it up (???))

i dunno, but if i was OP i would keep a finger in a pie...
