Debt recovery Plus letter

Hi all,
My son has received a letter from a company called Debt recovery plus ltd saying that he has an unpaid parking fine and must pay £160 within 14 days. They have given the correct car reg no. He hasn't received any previous correspondence regarding this and has said he is going to ignore it. IS he doing the right thing or do we need to follow a certain protocol to appeal?
It seems a bit steep for a parking fine? How can they prove it was him and do they have to send an initial demand letter?
Thanks in advance for any advice

who is the private parking company tat DR+ are working on behalf of?
secondly its not a fine,
thridly tell him to read the sticky thread on hereFrom the Plain Language Commission:
"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"0 -
IGNORE drp , they are powerless and can do nothing
nor can it be appealed either , DRP are a debt collector and dont accept appeals nor can they change the contract they signed with the creditor
the PPC have 6 years to pursue the driver in court and if the driver loses they would pay something like £175 to £225 , or less , depending on the circumstances and the judge

its an INVOICE , not a "fine"
a private company cannot "fine" anyone0 -
Thanks for replying. Sorry new on here and not totally sure what I'm doing yet
I have read through and found info I need though.
Many thanks again0 -
Hi there,
I am going through exactly the same thing after following all the usual kangaroo court style appeals (POPLA, IAS etc) If you do a little research you’ll find that a lot of these companies not only share ground with the car park agency but their legal offices, ‘debt’ collectors etc so the whole chain of letters etc is a farce!
I have simply issued a letter to DRP stating that I reject the alleged debt and to advise the parking agent to take me to court if there is an issue. I have also invoiced DRP for their continued harassment.
Stand your ground and don’t be intimidated by these scare mongering companies who are just after a quick buck.
Good luck!“It is not the man who has too little, but the man who craves more, that is poor.”0 -
Invoicing drp is a waste of time, go for the car park owner which won't be the ppc. From the Plain Language Commission:

Letter issued to the land owner today after months of asking my land lord to provide me his details. I also have the support of my local MP on the matter so finally feeling very positive!
General message is dont give up, keep plugging away and you'll get a result!“It is not the man who has too little, but the man who craves more, that is poor.”0 -
I've just got a letter from DRP debt recovery. Harps on about new supreme Court decision on parking charges. About a motorist being take to court in November 2015 and losing. Is this still scaremongering ?0

DRP are complete idiots, simply ignore them. yes it's scaremongering, yes, there was the BEAVIS CASE which was an overstay for an hour.
Probably nothing to do with your case.
You can tell us about yours, but you need to start a new thread, not on this one.
DO NOT CONTACT DRP unless you like leeches0 -
Hello everyone ... I've also received a letter from DRP chasing me for £160 as I haven't paid for a parking fine. The location was at the Bristol retail park, Winterstoke road. This is the second copy I have received! Does anyone know what the score is nowadays on not paying this bill? They have threatened the normal stuff ...court etc! Everyone I've spoken to in the past has always said don't pay fines when your on private land!! Is this the correct information? Do I ignore this or do I contact these guys??
Please help!?!?
Cheers
