Do you known that this company sells software to banks and who knows who that identifies you laptop/mobile phone!

If you were to write software to do it you would be arrested.

Most companies you do business with can identify you by your ip address anyway. It's part of the internet protocol.

To be honest with a bank account I would like them to know where the hack attack on my bank account was originating from for police purposes.

Whenever I log into my Tesco bank account from a new device it tells me that it doesn't recongise it and I have to go through a security check. I would rather have that peace of mind.

Absolute nonsense, there is nothing wrong with writing authentication/authorization application that include user profiling. Heck, its even fine to put it inside banner adds.

I would class this as a major, and unnecessary, irritation. It defeats one of the fundamental benefits of the Internet, that you can access services from anywhere, at any time. Location is irrelevant.

Tesco's approach here is backward, and in itself is a good enough reason not to deal with them. I do have a Tesco credit card, but I've never signed up to their online banking, and like as not, I never will.
